Just curious if anybody bought a motorhome and really missed their travel trailer or fifth wheel?
I know that the natural progression is to go from tent,pop-up,(hybrid),travel trailer, fifth wheel, and finally the motorhome.
If you do miss your travel trailer/5th wheel, what are the reasons?
Thanks for helping us plan for the future!

I bought a trailer after my motorhome blow the engine 2500miles from home on the other side of the border.
It was great for 2 boating seasons I had after.
If my wife would pull me on water-skis - I would do it again.

We went from really old pop up to really old A to hybrid TT with pop out ends to a C.

I have never missed the trailer itself though it had some features I missed. The outside shower was nice so I added one to the MH. The built in grill outside with propane hose was nice but a pain to set up every time. Have not added one.

Not towing anymore and being able to use the RV while travelling down the road is a joy for me. Not always having a little vehicle to run a short errand in is an inconvenience sometimes. Big errands or side trips are more convenient in the MH itself for us.

Best thing I liked about a TT was being able to change out engine and tranny without any work on the RV. Worst for us was a driving for hours without a bathroom, microwave, way to easily get to most things we packed, or move to another location in the vehicle.

Ben: No we have no regrets at all. We bought our 36' MH new and owned it for 10 years. When we decided to go FT, it was the first thing we put up for sale in favor of a new 36' 5th. The 5th passed the test and we enjoyed it so much that we sold it and had another one built. Never even think of a MH anymore.

Kris; 2002 towing miles were 14,942 out of 32,000+ total. 365 days spent in 51 different RV parks (and 0 Walmarts/Flying Js etc). In the past 6 years FTing, the low towing miles were 9,300 and the high towing miles were 16,200. This past year was the lowest number of RV parks and 72 was the highest per year.

Hope this helps you. Email me if you need more info.

Thanks. Just trying not to be jealous.
Unfortunately my wife is OK on short vacations, but full time might be another story. Still have youngster at school. And I HAVE TO pull the boat... what is another story with my wife...

Having went from travel trailers to motorhomes to travel trailer to motorhomes, I can say yes, I do miss the trailer.

I miss the trailer each time I pay a note on the motorhome. I miss the trailer when I have to carry the motorhome into the shop for repairs I cannot do. I miss the trailer when the motorhome is sitting in the yard not being used but costing me money. I miss the trailer when I put $200 worth of fuel in the motorhome to go another 700 miles.

I do enjoy the motorhome for ease of leveling, comfort and plush features. Still, a trailer is certainly more economical.

LD, with your money, why are you worried about economy?

We have run the gamut and would never go back. For us, MH is the only way to go. Ease of set-up, use while on road are the best things as far as we are concerned.
