The Yukon Vacation guide states,"Yukon Government campground permits must be purchased in advance".
Does this mean I have to know were I am going to stop for the night before I buy a permit?
What if I just want to stop when I find a nice place or decide to stay a few days after arrival?
Can I buy a permit at the site?
The guide also states,"overnight camping is permitted in designated areas only".
Does this mean I cannot boondock in the Yukon or is it just a referance to the government campgrounds?
When are the campgrounds open? I plan on arriving in the Yukon in early May.
Thanks
Bruce

No, they don't have to be purchased in advance. Usually (most often) they have someone come around and collect. If they miss you and you were unable to get a permit, you are allowed to get one later and deposit it at another campground--on the honor system.
