We have to really crank up the volume to hear the tv sitting at the dinette, especially with the a/c on.

Has anyone tried using wireless speakers with their tv or in dash stereo? I've seen them on the web, but would like to know if they really work well. Seems it would be easier than running wires through the cabinets, etc.

Thanks

John, don’t know what your TV set-up is, however if you have an earphone jack and the speakers for you FM radio are in the dining area this “little goodie” may help. It’s a transmitter that will plug into the earphone connections of cassette and CD players and play through a radio at four set frequencies. Possibly you would have to adapt the jack plugs but Radio Shack has various types.

I replaced the TV with a stereo TV with "headphones out". I then replaced my dash cassette player with a CD player that had an aux input. Many do these days, so you can plug MP3 players into them. A $3.00 cable later and your playing the TV thru your dash stereo and the remote control will control the volume, too. 19" stereo TVs are under $150.00. You would not have to replace your dash unit, you could run the headphones out to a set of self powered speakers, My experiences with wireless speakers aren't good; they pick up static, poor sound, etc.

Wireless speakers might be neat for getting some sound outside the RV without turning it way up and opening the windows (which tends to travel a lot more than ground level speakers).

Hi Jobrien,

I have used a set of wireless speakers on my motor home and they work great. I plug the transmitter into the satellite receiver and use them all around and outside of the coach. You could plug them in to the TV but that is usually not a handy place to access. Check out this link for a set similar to mine. Wireless speakers

I have a set of Advent speakers. They are bulky, but run at 2.4 GHz. You can run them of batteries as well, so that eliminates the need for wires altogether. The sound is great. I've never had any problems with them.

This is what I have.

ADVENT/RECOTON AW810 Wireless 900MHz Indoor/Outdoor Speaker System

I absolutely love it. I have it hooked up to the satellite and put it outside. It has great sound and battery life.

Where can I see and buy Advent speakers? Would Best Buys or Circuit City carry these, or do I go to a specialty store?

Thanks

The model I have is the Advent AW820 speaker set. I got mine at Best Buy, but that was over a year ago. Your best bet is to call around. Amazon.com is also selling some. Look to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $140 for these. Also, they are 900 MHz, not 2.4 GHz as I had indicated previously.
