Our 5er is around the 11,000 weight and shouldn't be a problem. My husband has some sort of chip that has a better output

He tows trailers loaded down with oak cabinets, etc. for his woodworking business and it's been pretty heavy and hasn't had any problems with it yet.

We use to tow our 40' 16,000 lb trailer using a F350 Single rear wheel. After 3 years of towing white knuckles I gave in and bought a truck that can handle our rig. Also I have read several other posts that several states DOT are staring to pull over units that look like they are overloaded.

I bought a 2003 F350 4X4 Extended Cab, 6.0 powerstroke V8 Turbo Diesel Lariate SRW a few weeks ago. I can't tow any of the 5th wheels that I want. I am very disappointed. I don't suppose that you can deduct the hitch weight amount from the trailer pulling amount, can you, since the weight is in the bed and could be considered payload for the truck bed and just used in figuring the GCVW?

Our F-350 is a 1991, non-turbo, but we are adding a turbo before next summers trip.

See signature for weights and measures.

(Actually, I am going to weigh it again soon, I've added more stuff and expect it to come in around 19,600 lbs or so.)

I would recomend the 411 rear if you get the Auto and plan to pull all the time. Will take your gas millage down when your not pulling but would be worth it if you pull most of the time. If you only plan to pull in season and short trip the 355 will be fine.

Kayecat If you can't find a 5th wheel that your new F350 6.0 can tow you are either being misinformed, looking for a 40ft Teton or just don't like the Ford F350. Very curious as to what type of 5r your looking at that you say it won't pull. Very strong comment without any additional information in order for us to help you out. We have a heavy unit as well as friends that pull Alpenlites AKA Alpenheavys..LOL We don't have any problems.

Our 2001 F250 SD super cab has a better 5er towing rate (14K) than the 2004 F350 super cab dually with new 6.0 engine and transmission (12K). We were looking at F450 (17K), but we also need a truck bed for our truck camper. Now we're looking at a 3500 dually Duramax with Allison tranny (15K). The HH Champagne we ordered is 12800 dry and 15900 max. We can't imagine hitting 14800-15000, but......

Dear Gottahaveit,

I am not looking for a hugh one but the Ford guide lists that the maximum trailer weight is 13,000#. In the 2004 Everest line there are only three of the smaller numbers that have the gvwr of under 13,000 and the one I liked with an adequate kitchen is 323P and GVWR is 13,900. (A lot of other companies only have two or three also and generally simular floor plans). And that is without adding any options, like I would like to have awnings over the slide outs, electric jacks, double pane windows, maybe a generatot and some of the other options that would make setting up easier. My husband has MS and a lot of those type of power cleaning things will be my responsibility. Water adds a lot of weight and my husband is saying something of being 20percent under the top amount that he heard in a class at Life on Wheels. We are thinking of becoming fulltimers and I like to cook so kitchen size is important to me (to hold a mixer, blender, bread maker, juicer and toaster just to name a few items.) There was a Mobile Suites that I liked but all of those are dry weights in the 12,000+. There is a Jayco that I like for 12,000 GVWR, but even the awning is listed as an option. Most of the ones I like are in the 32-34' length.

I am now checking out the Titaniums. I like two of the plans and will be able to pull them, I think.

I do have a travel trailer and we are going to try that for a few months and see if we would like to full time. Then I can see if the larger kitchen is still important to me.

Do you think I have some wrong information? I can have 20,000 GCVW.
