There are a couple of cg's on the west side of Alb off I 40 that are good sites. Haven't tried any others. A must see is Old Town. Great shopping (if you're so inclined) as well as great architecture. Also, if you like zoos, Alb has a really nice one. Take the Sandia tramway for a terrific view of the city from the top. Stop at the Chamber of Commerce office and get lots of information.
My personal feelings about going north to Santa Fe are that the city has gotten too crowded. Way too many people in too small an area. From now on my trip north will be to Taos. Nice and a little more relaxed.
However, you wanted to know about Alb., and if this is your first time there, you won't be seeing anything else unless you have a lot of time.
Go to the Balloon Fest you cant miss it also if you have time I would go to Four corners National Park and put you foot in all four corners of 4 different sates at once, and I would go to Roswell and see the UFO Museum. their is also a tram ride you can take up in the mountains and see for miles

We're leaving this Saturday for Albuquerque and have rez. at the Balloon Fiesta park. Everything seems pretty full until the Fiesta's over (it ends on the 12th). There's a CG on the west side of Alb that supposed to be pretty good. A number of people have posted that they like the KOA as well. We're going to spend a couple of days in the Santa Fe area so we can visit Taos Pueblo and S.F. We're staying at the Trailer Ranch RV before the Fiesta. Afterwards we're going to go south to see White Sands on our way to El Paso.
We use to live in Albuquerque. For an RV Park, I would suggest American RV Park up on the West Mesa on I40 just West of the I25 intersection. For dining, I would suggest two very fine New Mexican restaurants: Sadies on 4th ST and also El Pinto on 4th ST further north. Sadies is very hot and spicy and authentic. El Pinto is a little more elegant and more genteel on the taste buds but also excellent. I prefer flame and fire and my wife likes it more moderate. For breakfast, try Wecks: they have excellent breakfast burritos with "papas" covered with cheese. You will always be asked for "red or green" when having New Mexican food. What they mean is the sauces that cover your food: red chile sauce or green chile sauce. If you say "Christmas", then you will get both. Also try huevos rancheros, this can be ordered any time of the day. If you want to divert from New Mexican food, two good Italian restaurants are Trattoria Trombino's and Scalas. Both are in the yellow pages and they are excellent. For site seeing: there is Old Town which was mentioned above, the petroglyphs at Petroglyph National Monument, the Sandia Mountains where you can either drive or take a tram, and the casino's for your gaming pleasure. It is going to start getting cold up in the mountains, but if you get the chance, Chama in North Central NM is very beautiful. If you like to fly fish for trout, then, you may want to go up to Farmington and fish the gold medal San Juan River which is a tail water coming from Navajo Dam/Lake, a twenty inch trout is about average catch up there. Hope this helps and have a great time.
