Hi Socal, This is a link to "Logosland" and it is right next to Cobden. I have not stayed there yet but we plan to next summer as it looks like it would be a good place and fun for the kids and they seem to have a great RV campground.
I hope this helps you out.

Here is another link which gives you 360 degree views of Logosland

There is a very good municipal RV park right in Cobden just off the main road, which I have used .

When you have seen G'ma's place - try Ottawa or Pembrooke- Barrys Bay etc - good country all around.
Enjoy

Socal - I grew up in Pembroke. That's quite a hike you'll be making, that's for sure! It'd be good to do a lot of reading on the area first since it's a huge area with so much to do, and something for all tastes.

The others have given you good info on campgrounds. The one I know best is Pinewood Park, just to the southeast of Cobden. It's well off the road so you won't get any highway noise.

Here's a link to all the camgrounds in the Ottawa Valley: www.ottawavalleyguide.ca/ I see Pinewood is in there but the site says "seasonal only" so perhaps they don't allow short-term stays.

Other than that Bona Vista, just to the west of Cobden, is the closest to Cobden (about a kilometre away), between Pembroke and Cobden. However, I haven't been there so don't know much about it. It has been there for at least 25 years!

Forgot to say anything about Cobden itself! Cobden is a small farming town of about 1000 people. The main highway, highway 17 passes thru it (the municipal park is right beside that road and although it's a nice park the noise from traffic would be, um, noticeable!). Cobden is the only town for a few hundred miles west of Ottawa that hasn't been bypassed by the newer parts of Highway 17. That's because there are major fights going on about the eventual routing of the highway.

The town has a nice little main drag that runs off the highway. Lots of nice little stores of the type you'd expect in a small farming town. I suppose you could say it's quaint, and similar to many such towns on the continent. The people there are friendly and there is a real sense of community, again, like many small towns!

Pembroke, population 15,000, is 20 miles west. A major military base, Petawawa is another 10 miles to the west. Ottawa, Canada's capital, is about 60 miles to the east. The region is dotted with small old lumber and farming towns, and quite a variety of history related to the original settlers who came from Poland, Germany, Ireland and so on.

Riverside Park in Pembroke is right on the Ottawa River and just across the River from Quebec province. The whole Ottawa Valley is a great place to visit. Pine Ridge is a private CG a few miles North of Pembroke and still on the river. If you are there over Labor Day weekend you will see the RVs rafted together on the sites for the Fiddle Days in Pembroke. Take a trip up to Chalk River and visit the Atomic Energy Canada. They had a great tour a couple years ago. We go at least once a year and look forward to it every year. There are a few places that do white water rafting in the area also. I haven't bothered to check that out myself.
