Yes, the first thing I would suspect is a problem with the vent which should go from roof to tank.
Also, make sure, PARTICULARLY WHILE IN STORAGE that all the P traps remain full of water or water/potable antifreeze, as they also access the tanks.

I hate to see you not getting any answers. Check the vent under the sink in the bathroom. Put a plastic bag over it and use a rubber band to secure it. Make sure to use a good dose of the blue stuff. Keep the front windows closed, they create a vacuum that sucks air through the tanks. There is a vent inside the toilet that you can't close. Fill the tanks 1/2 full, add a lot of dishwasher soap, and go for a rough ride to clean them out. Add a bag if ice if necessary, to beat the stuff into a liquid. Then drain as soon as you stop. Try a search, this is an old, ongoing problem.

Mark,
I had a similar problem and the fix was two fold. First I plugged the two holes near the rear and top of the toilet. Next the factory sent me a new vent called a "venturie vent". This was installed on the black tank vent line. Since then no more problems, even if I leave the front window open while driving. This causes a bit of a vacumn in the interior of the coach and before the fix you would pass out from the smell. Good luck.

Mark,
Had that problem with mine when first got it,, It had been setting a while. I was told to put water in the toilet without opening the bowl drain, there is an over flow built into the toilet. after the water ran through it the smell never came back, I do not know if it is a water trap or mechanical flap but try running the water through it,
Good Luck

Anyone ever have this sewer smell with a w/dryer? Every once in a while we have a terrible sewer odor coming up from behind the washer/dryer. The linen closet above smells terrible. Definitely coming from behind the w/d but can't figure it out. Possibly the trap drying out? It seems to go away after running some water thru the washer.

Sometimes the gray water tank will give off an odor like sewer so put down baking soda when the tanks are empty with a quart of water and drive around with it for a while and then drain it.
good luck

Snowbird47,
Yes, there is a trap on your washer in the RV just like the one in your house. Keep it filled and you won't have the odor coming through the drain pipe.
