Have to agree on the Phaeton. We traded in our 35 ft Persuit for a 40TGH Phaeton with 3 slides. A lot of bang for the buck.

Before we bought our 2003 Dutch Star at Ron Hoover's in Houston (great dealer very pleased)... we looked all over Texas and went to Lazy Days in Florida. Fort Worth has great dealers too, one mentioned in this thread.
Before you buy however you might want to check out www.pplmotorhomes.com. I have watched that site and visited many times since they have a great parts and supplies place that we shop from time to time. We always look at the used coaches and they always have great ones. Their place is impressive, their policies and procedures seem worth checking out. Their reputation and background shouldn't be difficult to check out either as they are a very large dealer and consignment outlet in Southwest Houston. They advertise being the "biggest".
Give it a look. It might produce something for you. The new model coaches it looks like there are some really great deals all the time on their lot. Check it out.

Highly Recommend Ron Hoover in Houston
Chris Hoover (also has quality used units)
2003 DSDP 2 SO - bought March '03 (never-camped-a-day-in-our-lives newbies)Lovin' every minute of going to the Nascar races.
8,000 miles on our coach. Next trip Homestead-Maimi Nov. 10 for last race of the season.
Only regret: Not having a quad slide! otherwise we are loving our 2 SO.
Good Luck and post what you decide on.

I'm an old-iron guy instead of fiberglass. My first coach was an 84 Blue Bird, current coach is an 86 Newell, however, I've been real impressed with the Monaco Dynasty. They're usually in good shape for being a few years old. You get the "smart" wheel with the 2000 and newer. The foward slide worked real well. The one we looked at was a single. My inlaws just got a 2000 AmEagle with a wardrobe slide in the bedroom. The bed was offset to the streetside to accomodate it, (very little room to walk) and it was easy to get drawers or shoes in the way of the slide. You might like a cross queen instead. I like the no-slide bedrooms best.
The Dutchstar has to have perfect 12-volt voltage or the slides don't work right.

Sold my Vacationer on e-bay and bought a 40' Phaeton that I had seen at last year's Harrisburg show. Oh do I love my Phaeton.

Larry & June:
Jill and I decided on a Tiffin Phaeton 38GH. It has the most bang for your dollar, also has Bob Tiffin who stands behind his product. He is the only owner that makes himself accessable to his customers.
Just a note:
There is a forty per cent markup on the coaches to
achieve MSRP. This comment will draw some flak,
but I have it in black and white. Work at a price
at 28 to 30 per cent off. Also if you special order
the coach, the dealer has no interest to pay his
credit company.
