We will be traveling west with our 25' trailer on I10 to CA in December and would like to visit the Getty Museum. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to camp that would avoid as much LA traffic as possible and still be close enough for day trips to the museum?
Thanks --- Jim

The Getty museum is right next to I-405 and in the only small stretch between the 5/405 interchange south of Santa Clarita and San Clemente that does NOT have a HOV (commuter) lane. Dealing with LA traffic is inevitable, I'm sorry to say, and the stretch between the 405/101 exchange and the 405/10 exchange is the worse part of I-405 IMHO.

Sorry , can't tell you about any CG's near Getty, however don't pass it by, we went and enjoyed every minute........we were staying in Anahiem near Disney & Knotts berry farm.....once you get to the Getty, they have a good parking and tranportation tram/trian up to the Museum.
Have fun and enjoy.......oh , I drove there from Anahiem, is a little crowded, typical So CAl traffic.......

Jim,
I'm in the Birmingham Trailer Village, 7740 Balboa Blvd., Van Nuys, CA, Phone 818-785-0949. I go by the Getty Musem daily on my way to work. This is the closest.

jofelt,
If you like, there is a State campground nearby, about an hours drive in traffic, Leo Carrillo is at the Ventura/Los Angeles county line. They don't have hook-ups, but they have a dump station. Nice drive down PCH "Pacific Coast Highway" to Sunset and then inland. Lots of other things to do in the area, Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, and a California Mission in Ventura to the north. Leo Carrillo would give you a nice jumping off point. If you need hook ups, in Ventura next to Hwy 101, there is a park with full amenities.
