Is it advisable to use a blue poly tarp to cover a fiberglass trailer for winter? Thanks

Yes i would recommend a cover, the only problem with a tarp is gettig everything tied down so it won't flap in the wind.
A tarp can cause abrasion to the finish.

I put a full cover on that was made for a 28' from Camping Wprld and it was a breeze to install, there's straps that go under the trailer that are adjustable and @ each end there are grommets for rope to tighten up the slack.
It was well worth the $$$$

RogerH,

I have been using the blue tarps for over 20 years on various campers and have never had a problem. Some will tell you that you should buy one of those $350.00 covers that breathe. My experience is that since the blue tarps do not seal tight there is plenty of air circulation. I use bunge cords to hold it on and place foam pipe insulation around the cords where they contact the body.

It may be different in various climate conditions throughout the country but like I said, I have been doing this for years and have never had a problem.

Roger
Everthing you read here will say No to that question.

I used a blue tarp on my 89 Prowler metal sided TT for 3 years with no water problems, maybe I was just lucky but I also never left to much snow on top of the roof. The problem was keeping it on the trailer when the wind starts to blow, ropes blocks etc it still come loose.

This year I bought a new trailer and decided not to use the tarp as it was ripped in places because they just don't last very long.

I searched around and found a Progaurd TT cover at Cabelas on line.

Just a hint measure your trailer and find out the specs if are going to buy so you can obtain a cover that will fit right.

I put the cover on yesterday and it fit well and comes with tie downs built in which I hope will do the trick.

I think a breathable cover is the way to go but I also want to see it take on the weather this year and then I will know for sure.

Good Luck, seems like my weather will be yours?

Search around. This topic has been `covered' before. I don't like laying the cover on top of the RV because moisture can get trapped underneath the cover. So I make an A-frame which leaves lots of space for air flow; also open the end windows underneath the window cover to allow air flow through the inside of the RV.
You can buy Sunshield covers from Boat/US in various sizes that I have used for 15 years.
