Hello -
Any good campground recommendations for the Finger Lake Region on New York? My wife and I are planning to head up there the week after July 4th. We have never been in this area and wanted your advice. Planning activities to include kayaking, hiking, touring some of the local wineries and maybe head up to Niagra Fall for a day trip.
Thanks for the replies!

We really enjoyed Watkin's Glen State Park when we visited several years ago. There are steps that you use to follow the gorge from top to bottom and/or vice-versa. It's awesome. The town is interesting with lots of shops and wineries galore. Another park to visit as you head over to the Falls is Letchworth State Park - quite a canyon there. Consider coming across to Ontario, Canada for good camping in the Niagara region and elsewhere.

beav...is correct..
Keuka Lake State Park CG is better than most private CGs....30 Amp service..BIG SITES...nice views...You have to bring your own water...
Cauyga Lake State Park CG is just as good but smaller sites....30 Amp...bring your water too..
Both State parks are right on th lake.....
I love going to a private CG on Cauyga Lake just 7 miles north of Ithaca, NY...It's Called Spruce Row CG...Very nice it has only 30 Full-hook-up sites (30 amp) but they are all very nice and shaded...it's not on the lake but very nice....Site 204 is my favorite......We camp there every other weekend in June....
...... You can tour Ithaca & Watkins Glen from there...Lots of Winerys...Corning is a short drive...so is a ride to my home.......(one hour)
Here is the link.......http://www.sprucerow.com/
Look for me and my bass boat up on the north end of Cauyga Lake....I'm up there every wednesday & weekends when I'm not in Canada fishing....

I am originally from Hammondsport so I know a little about Keuka Lake..the state park is nice as mentioned..there is Hickory Hill in Bath which is good but not on the water...Hammondsport has an air museum plus many wineries to visit and the village is beautiful; Corning is nearby and the glass museum is world class....there is a great boat ride on Keuka on the Keuka Maid...all of the lakes are great so take a long look around...and good luck...........

Thanks for the information - I was just at the Camper show in CT on Sunday, so I have a few booklets on NY campgrounds.
So Keuka Lake St. Park does not have water hook-up?
I have not looked any further yet into this, but do all locations allow dogs?
Thanks.

TuckerMGP...No NY State CG has water hook-ups...
They have a few water spickets to tap into to fill scattered around the CG...I usually bring a full Fresh water tank if we go for a weekend....You probably can fill up there but you would have to pull off your site to fill up, unless your site is next to one of the water spickets...
