I go thru California on the way to the Oregon Coast! I fill up in Nevada, don't worry, slowcom and the dunks.! I don't spend money there!!!I do use the roads there, I don't buy food, fishing liscenses or supplys.. Don't worry... I am not spending money there!!!At least not like We used to... Isn't it nice to see the State in a budget crisis? Taxes flying thru the roof, sales tax increases etc.. Don't worry, many are leaving the State in droves, along with many business'.... I just don't spend major bucks there anylonger.. They got me for non res liscenses for years, but after the fine, no mas! no, no more....So, don't worry about it....

I thought it would never happen in Oregon, but TT's and fivers in Oregon can now travel the posted auto speed limit.
I think there are good points to be made for both sides of this issue. Slower is clearly safer when considering a vehicle travelling alone on the road, but the issue of congestion and weaving traffic because of slower limits is an issue too.
I've done at least 20,000 miles of towing in California and found that if I keep my speed at 63 to 64 MPH and avoid weaving the CHP will leave you alone. Most truck traffic is also moving at those speeds.
The problem in California is the inconsiderate automobile drivers. They generally refuse to allow you to keep an adequate following distance and do tend to weave excessively. They also don't wish to share the road with RV's and trucks. They often make it close to impossible to make a lane change.
What does this have to do with the post? I suggest we avoid California since many of it's drivers as well as it's legislature are unfriendly to us.

Ohio used to have the speed differentials. Haven't been there in 8 years, so they might have done away with them. Highway Patrol would ride in front of big trucks at 55 mph and over toward the white line to catch speeders. Cars would breeze past and not see the HP until it was too late. If the truck attempted to pass, it would be pulled over for exceeding the 55 mph truck limit.

Sorry to pop your bubble. but speed differentials don't cause wrecks, BAD DRIVERS CAUSE WRECKS!!
You know, the ones who don't know about following too close, couldn't recover from a skid if their lives depended on it, slow way down for curves because they don't know how their car handles, and take stupid chances when passing because they don't know how to judge closure rates.
You know, don't you?
