I remember back in the 50's when there were orange groves in Orange County. That was before everybody came to California. I'm really happy to see that now with the overcrowding that there's people that are leaving and don't want to visit here!

Thanks falcondan!

Ignorance is no excuse. If you would read the proclamation that is furnished when you buy your license, you'd be aware of the rules and regs. Stop bad-mouthing an entire state just because you do not keep abreast of the laws.

Only a $380 fine. Consider yourself lucky. If you had Pi**ed of the agent, you could have had your fishing tackle and your vehicle confiscated. It has happened.

As a 20 year "lifer" who's service spanned the entire Viet Nam period and most of the Cold War era, I'm absolutely offended with your inference that Californians routinely "spit on" returning vets. That's absolute hogwash worthy of "The Globe" or "The National Enquirer." Isolated cases did happen, interestingly ONLY when media was present. Personally, I've traveled in and through San Francisco in full uniform literally hundreds of times and never once was treated shabbily. Ignored, yes, but even during Vietnam one was welcome anywhere but around Haige Street. By the way, I was born in Berkeley and all of us Berkeleyites knew to stay home whenever a media covered event was happening.

You sound like an angry old man with nothing better to do than complain. Let's hope that isn't the case because it causes high blood pressure and can lead to a stroke.

dons2346, Yes I have seen that happen before. Everyone is leaving this state because they screwed our electrical system and supply up so bad that you can't hardly afford to pay your electric bill anymore. The cost of living in California is very high, there is no denying that.

Well that does it!! Nothing left for Californians but MASS-SUICIDE. Without your money coming in we are DOOMED.

Won't you reconsider? We need you so much! That thought of surviving without you is too much to bear!.

Dear Mr. Falcon, I have lived in California all my adult life, since coming here in 1966 when I enlisted in the Navy, having been born and raised in the great state of Texas. I am here by choice, not because I hate Texas--I'll always be a Texan by birthright--but because after getting out of the service, I'd already established a life here. Yeah, we've got horrific traffic problems, but have you ever driven through Houston or Jacksonville, Fla.? Ever see people ask questions here like "What's the best route around Kansas City?" etc." Yeah, we've got state income taxes, high gas prices, but a $200k home in Texas has property taxes, at least in Jefferson County, Tx. of around $4000 a year or so. My house, valued at none of your busines, but a lot higher, the taxes are only a little higher. I'll agree with you as far as our justice system. I'd love to see us start frying a few people like they do in Tx or Fla. Okay, lethal injection. Or not the death penalty, since with the advent of DNA, it's proved some people in death row are actually innocent, so I've gone from pro-death penalty to LWOP, life without parole. Personally, I'd rather death for me, given the choice. Prison is no picnic, despite what some think. But that's another forum.
Those of us who live here do so by choice and choose to because we enjoy it. Matter of fact, in my neighborhood, I think there's more folks from Chicago alone than who are natives. Living here 38 years, I know more non-natives than natives. And the natives are pretty darn nice people. I had the occasion to meet one, a fellow goes by the handle of "Sneaks" who's a pretty darned nice veteran and 5thwheeler. So why don't you just keep your bigoted rear out of our state and stay holed up there in Hooterville, no offense intended to the citizens of your fine city, and let those who want to see our great beaches, Yosemite, BIg Sur, our redwood and Sequios forests and on and on, do so. Bye.
