We are looking at having installed on the camper we finally select, a low profile 11,000 btu air conditioner.
This question is for owners of the Honda EU2000I generator.
Will this gen run an 11,000 btu air conditioner, or do I have to go to something like a 9000 btu unit.
Your comments as alwats are appreciated.

You'll need a soft start kit installed on the AC to lessen the initial kick, ofthe compressor....After that, you'll be ok, as long as you don't wanna run much else....Remember you convertor can draw quite a bit, if your batteries are low, or the 12V load is high...Pat

Have the Brisk Air 11,000 on mine. Called the factory. Talked to the owner-president. Said all he runs is the Honda EU2000, no problem. Got my Honda today and hooked it up. Turned everything on in the camper, air, Fantastic fan, frig and lights, Never wimpered! Dont think the compressor on the air kicked in though because it was only about 60 outside. But was fun trying.
On edit: Think any slide in would work with a 9,000, except maybe in Arizona?

soft-start is the key. My little 2000 pushes my 13.5k Dometic Hi-efficiency just fine because of that addition.

I also have a 11,000 BTU Air Condtioner and have been trying to find someone else that had tried it on the Honda 2000 but have yet to have a reply. Mine is a Dometic Penquin 11,000 BTU Factory Installed in a 2003 10-2000 Nothern-lite RR.I have the spec. sheet from Dometic it says:
Model No. 600312.321
Compressor rated load amps 9.5
Fan Motor rated load amps 3.1
Compressor locked motor amps 53.0
Fan motor locked motor amps 8.8
Input watts cooling 1350
AC circuit protection 20 amp
Min. generator 1 Unit 2.5K
Does anyone know how this compares to the 9,000 BTU units out there that everyone seems to be running with the Honda 2,000
I asked Maybeery's if it would work and they said yes but they are in the buisness of selling generators!

The EU2000 will run an 11,000 BTU AC, but that is the limit. You can get away with skipping the soft start kit, but no lights or TV. I have twin 2000's to run mine with the other stuff on board. It does give a factor of safety, and it is easier on the generators.

The soft-start is the only way to do this. This kit makes it easier on the generator and is far less costly than 2 Hondas. I can run lights and TV simultaneous with A/C as well.

Runs my 9000 BTU Coleman no problem, so I dont' think 11,000 will be. Only sounds like about 3/4 draw by the engine revs when it starts.

jgaylor,
I have a 11.5k brisk air on mine. However I run the 3000, can run lites, tv and micro in 105 AZ temps with no problems. Don't have the soft start kit installed but am thinking about it just to make it easier on the gen. Don't see any reason you should have any problems with a 2000, might not run everything at once though. As BB said the soft start kit is the way to go...
