Kajtek,
I have 10 pounds of C-4 and a couple blasting caps left over from an old Claymore I used to carry in my rig. Let me know where you are and I will come out and put that thing out of it's misery for you. I think that is the safest course of action after seeing those photos.

Quote: Hi Kristopher....btw, it was nice to meet you at the recent CA Rally.
I commend you on trying to warn us to be cautious in taking your observations and apply them directly to our RVs. The casual reader of you messages, hopefully that's most of us, want to maintain the highest safety margins in our vehicles. Some on-the-road failures can be catastrophic and I for one want to knowingly do the best I can to maintain the highest margins of safety possible for me and just as important, the people around me.
I think you may be cutting down somewhat on safety margins, to what degree, time and usage of your Prevost will tell.
Kristopher, please be careful, and to those reading this thread, please use caution in applying Kristopher's observations to the recommended maintenance practices on your vehicles. After-all, his results are still waiting in the wings.

Hi Howard.
Sounds, like following the TV "Myth Busters" sample I might want to post a big sign
I AM HIGHLY TRAINED PROFESSIONAL.
DON'T TRY THIS EXPERIMENTS AT HOME !!!
I have high confidence in members intelligence and that's one of the reason it was so nice to meet some of them on the rally.
(Didn't know they are moderators there, when I dropped the bucket of water in the crowd. Sorry if that hit you Howard).
With so many new tires blowing up every day, I guess I am trying to make a point, that some things can be done much better, than the others.
Like the multi-story about several thousand of $ damage the flat tire can do to motorhomes. I see some signs, that my motorhome had a blow-up once. But having steel, rounded, inner fenders all it did was polish some metal.
Now, don't expect the same on wood, particle board and fiberglass motorhome!!!
I might drive the tire on the picture for one more year, just to confirm, that no 2 things are alike.
Happy camping.
BTW. Have you guys seen the Myth Buster's experiment with silicone implants bursting? I wonder how many women attempted to try it at home?

I Love Good Sam Emergency Road Service. Over the years they put my spare tire on 4 times. They towed me 5 times due to mechanical problems i couldn't fix out on the road. First time we got their ERS was about 1975.
Take Care. Jack.......

Mountain Jack:
My wife's brother owned and operated a tire shop until recently. Patching tubless tires was a daily operation at his shop but he also did some "liners" as described in another post. Lots of big thorns in his area and it certainly helped protect the tubes. I don't know what models of Coates machines he had, several different ones, but it sure beat the heck out of tire irons, hammers and language that increased my vocabulary somewhat back when tire repair was necessary. I admire anyone who has the patience and work ethic to do such work even with the new and work saving equipment. It was never my occupation, just a necessity of having equipment and little money. I don't have any equipment and longer but I still have little money. Thanks for the comments.

You said you carry a spare and know how to change it. I have often wondered just how to change such a tire on those big rigs. How much does one of those tires weigh? Do you carry a lift of some sort?
Jack
This wheel weights 259lb. I am able to lift it and slide few inches to roll it into the spot I need. For fitting on the axle a big bar is very helpful. I am carrying 3 foot bar in the coach, but will probably add 5-footer, that I am using at home.
In the process of braking the nuts loose, so far I've broken 3/4" ratchet, made a pretzel out of 3/4" lifetime guarantee breaker bar (Craftsman) and bend the bar, that was original for the bus.
As I mentioned before, it isn't for everybody
