We replaced the plastic toilet in our previous MH with a porcelin one from SeaLand because the wife just didn't like the old one. We were never really happy with the SeaLand because it did not do a good job washing down the sides of the bowl when flushed. That was several years ago and the designs have probably changed, but there is usually no way to try out a toilet before buying it.

Installation should be fairly simple. All toilets use similar flanges for mounting to the floor and those have multiple hole patterns to fit different configurations. RV and marine toilets do not use wax seals like the home models. The seals are rubber and easy to install.

I stand corrected, you are indeed correct Sealand is made by Dometic. Must have had a senior moment.
The Sealand toilet is still a nice looking/working toilet.

SeaLand came in our new MH. Love it. For all of the aforementioned reasons.

Can't speak to the installation aspect though.

The first remodeling job on my coach was replacing nice, dark yellow, plastic toilet with white porcelain.
Have to go back to this project, since it is to low, with limited leg room in the bathroom. Can't cut the hole in the cabinet for the legs, so will have to raise the toilet.
Don't you make this error.

Yeah. Sealand makes toilets of differing heights.

Our '88 Southwind came with a plastic Thetford toilet, and although it worked OK, it left something to be desired. A china toilet was purchased to replace it in the mid '80s. Our newer motorhome came with a Sealand and we're happy with it. I would have replaced another plastic toilet with ceramic. The china bowl seems easier to clean and I know that it's more comfortable for people with a little more girth, such as me.

Installation of the first unit was simple a step by step replacement, neither time consuming nor difficult.

I'd like to add a sprayer to our setup, but I'll wait until I can check out an RV show to see how it's done.

I'm not real happy with the quality of the Sealands. I replaced a Thetford in my fiver last year with a Sealand cause we wanted the bigger, wider bowl and pocelain construction. About one month after putting it in, we had a leak in the vacuum unit behind the toilet. Had to have Sealand send replacement. On our MH that we just got, it came with the Sealand Traveler or the 500 model(not sure which). The minute I got it home from the dealer, we found two leaks. One at that same vacuum unit and one under the pedal push unit. Those leaks should never have passed quality control at Sealand. Also, as mentioned already, the sprayer has very little pressure since you have to run the foot pedal to get it to work. Altough the looks are nice on the Sealand, not sure if I would get another. Thetford makes some upgraded models that might be a better solution.

We have a china SeaLand Traveler flush in the motorhome we just purchased and I prefer it over the old Thetford plastic toilet. The china toilet is a bit larger and is just more comfortable. Another plus for me when choosing between china and plastic--plastic retains odors that are sometimes difficult to get rid of. China doesn't retain odors or stains. The flush water seems a bit low on pressure, but the sprayer on mine has lots of pressure and washes everything down the drain. I would go with a china flush over plastic any day...just feels more like home.
