Two differences...

Badging.
Marketing.

These rigs are built on the same assembly line(s).

As to the warranty issue, any backing to that? If I had a warranty problem with the badges, I could understand (maybe, barely) having to go to the specific dealer.

For a problem with, say, engine/tranny/rear-end (common parts), I would expect any GM dealer to handle it (though I would go to one that sells trucks).

I kind of like the Chevy front end. Also better looking aluminum wheels. The GMC reminds me of a smiling Cheshire Cat.

They are still the same underneath so I guess go where the dealer has the best service. That is what is more important.

Two months ago I traded my 2002 GMC SLT half ton extended cab for a 2004 GMC SLT 3/4 ton crew cab. I loved the 02 but I am getting a bigger horse trailer and needed more pull.

I only needed warranty work done one time on the '02 (that is the good thing isn't it?) and there wasn't a GMC dealer nearby. The Chevy dealer took care of it, no questions asked. Based on my experience, comments about a lack of warranty/service availability is just talk.

Enjoy whatever you buy!

I went with the Chevy for resale reasons. It is easier to sell a chevy than a GMC. There is a reason why the local Chevy dealer is always bigger than the GMC dealer.

Nope, and the front end grows on you, seriously I thought it was ugly
too but the wife liked it, now I'm ok with it.

There are fewer GMC dealers and that becomes an issue with warranty work. You have to use GMC dealers while under a factory warranty.

The quote above regarding warranty work is totally wrong. I have had ALL of my GMC warranty work taken care of by my local Chevrolet dealer. No questions asked.

I bought a 2003 GMC 2500HD Crewcab because it looks better than the stupid looking Chevrolet "scary face" front end and the bulging tail lights rear end. I don't know what Chevrolet was thinking when they designed that joke of a front end, but my GMC dealer said their sales have never been better over the past couple of years.

Go with the GMC - it looks like a truck instead of a cartoon character and warrant work is NO problem.

I have a brother-in-law that told me his neighbor works at a GM plant. This guy told him that they make GMCs out of the "better" parts and Chevys out of the "less than perfect parts.

The real funny thing is that he believes it!!

I still can't imagine that a GMC dealer won't do warranty work on a Chevy and the othe way also.....This, to me, is just stupid!
