I am considering the purchase of a Forest River Shamrock hybrid, model 21SS. I saw the Jayco Jay Feather in 19 foot model. Everyone has heard of Jayco but Forest River was a new name to me. Anyone have any experience with the manufacturer and any of their hybrid models?

Forest River is a large manufacturer of many models. Kind of like GM. Forest River makes Rockwood, Surveyor, Salem, Wildwood, Shamrock, and Flagstaff just to name a few. I've had two Salems by Forest River and I am very happy with them.

Here's a couple of searchs to dig through to keep you busy while you wait responses.

Click here for a search of Shamrock in the Hybrid forum for the last 12 months.

Some of the post are just from folks that have a shamrock or Forest river listed in there signature, but I'm sure there will be some post regarding the Shamrocks that may help you out.

Here's a search of Forest River in the Hybrid forum for the last 12 months.

Of course I'm partial to the Jay Feather's

Good Luck

Hi,
We have a 33' TT Sandpiper by Forest River. It is a 2001 model and we have not had any problems with it.

We are on our 3rd Forest River product. Have been happy with all of them. Our dealer is great, that is one of the most important things. A bad dealer can make any good rv maker look bad. Find a good dealer which ever decision you make.

As msereno said, "Forest River is a large manufacturer of many models." Numerous posts I have read over the past couple of years applaud Forest River customer service when individuals have had trouble getting satisfaction from their dealer. In fact, one dealer volunteered that Forest River terminates franchise contracts after five customer compaints against the dealer within a 365 day period./jfg

We are on our second Forest River product (both Rockwoods) and we have had nothing but good times. Our Roo 23B was taken back to the dealer for a leak and a misaligned screen door but there was no problem getting those items fixed. Our dealer is great and that is why we went back there to get our second RV.

As far as what the dealer volunteered, without seeing it in writing from Forest River and/or comparing it to other companies' policies, it seems unfair to mention. It is, nonetheless, good information to keep in mind. I think a dealer with too many complaints is warning sign for a potential customer whether that customer is a consumer or a manufacturer.

I've been reading this forum for a long time with interest towards Hybrids since I own one. I seen a lot of post with leak problems on different brands but I never heard anyone complain about leaks on a Jayco hybrid. Search for leaks and see if you get any hits on that model.

I went from a starcraft Popup to a Forest River Shamrock 25BH and have been pleased with the Forest River product. When making our decision to buy I felt the quality of the Shamrock was above other units we looked at. We did not look at any Jayco hybirds. So far we have been very happy with our pick.
