I got nowhere with the dealer. You can't argue with someone who doesn't understand the concept of weight distribution. They told me it should have bent down instead of up and there must be something wrong with my setup. So off I went to buy a new hitch. I'll be writing a letter to GM & filing a complaint with NHTSA.

Amazing, isn't it? Fortunately it's only $150 and not a $1500 part..... Glad you are filing with NHTSA...let's build their file, and maybe they will at least investigate with GM!
[blue]You can't argue with someone who doesn't understand the concept of weight distribution[/blue] Not just the dealer, but many here too.
[blue]They told me it should have bent down instead of up and there must be something wrong with my setup[/blue] Most common misconception. Thinking of a dead weight situtaion. In a WD system the receiver is leveraged "UP" and why GM's design uses the bumper to do most all of the WD work. The WD bars is just like putting in a SIX foot long iron bar into the receiver and pushing "UP". That lifts the TV's rear end and transfers (WD'ing...aka weight distributing) over to the TV's front end. Since standing on the TT's tongue, some weight is also transfered back to the TT's tongue.
[blue]So off I went to buy a new hitch. I'll be writing a letter to GM & filing a complaint with NHTSA.[/blue] Good thing on both accounts. Only after enough complain and/or maiming/killing will NHTSA even consider looking at it.

Gecates,

I'm sure glad you posted that picture. Wow, what a flimsy piece of crap. My new Putnum Class V hitch should be here tomorrow, now if I just had a truck to mount it on... I guess it well show up someday.
