We have just acquired a 2005 Winnie Journey 36 and are planning to use our existing VW Jetta as Dingy. We are not full timers and my wife uses the car for her daily needs; work and other. Is it wrong to have a Trailer and tow the Jetta on it? The trailers I am seeing have electric brakes and enough capacity to carry a jetta. My Coach can pull 10,000 lbs and the trailer GV of 7000lbs.
Please help.

I tow my ih scout on a car trailer. I like it. The problem you will hear people say is that a trailer is difficult to manuver and where do you put it etc. I recommend a trailer.

Since a Jetta is front wheel drive, why not use a dolly instead of a trailer? Less expensive and much more compact to store, especially at a campground that may have limited space. Surge brakes are a good waqy to go on the tow dolly. May be worth looking into. Good Luck. Enjoy your journies in your Journey!!

I pull on a trailer. The main thing I see is the extra weight of the trailer. 1,000 to 1,500 extra pounds means that much more in other stuff you could be bringing. Backing up is easy with the trailer and I've never had a problem at campgounds because of it. Dave

Do any of you have any suggestion/recommendation on the trailer? Are electric brakes sufficient for the combined weigh of trailer plus Jetta?

My trailer is a Big Tex and it has 4 wheel brakes which is plenty to stop the trailer, the 3500 lb car, and the 28 ft hotel too! You won't have any problem. Dave

I pull a 20' enclosed trailer and love it. I can haul my Harley and Jeep at the same time. It is 10,000 GVW and 4 wheel brakes. I use the Prodigy controller.
