My Trailer Life directory does not list the address of the campgrounds it lists. Only if the campground has a seperate ad will there be an address. Result is I can't use my computer based map program to get coordinates (I do this at home) for use in my hand held GPS. I've sent Emails to Trailer Life suggesting they have their campground inspectors record the coordinates when they inspect each CG. It doesn't seem an unraesonable suggestion, but alas, they don,t even answer the Emails. I know the handheld won't get me right to the CG front door but it points in the right direction and gives me a continous straight line distance to the CG. The changing mileage sure lets me know when I've gone too far. I'm sure many of you have one of these nifty toys, this is one more thing it can do for you. But first the publishers Directories need to be convinced enough people want the info. I for one would be willing to pay a few bucks more for that additional feature. Also without the addresses I don't believe even those expensive on board GPS systems work, How about it, am I off base?

GL,
I think that's a great idea. Like you said, once you input the coords you can at least tell how far you have to travel. You'd at least be "in the ballpark" when trying to find a location. Good thinkin'!!!!!

I have the Street pilot 111 deluxe. It list just about every campground their is in the states that you have loaded on it.Just got this thing and I am very impressed how it works. The voice promps are way cool.I am really really bad with directions and this thing as solved that for me big time.I have all the camp grounds I go to marked as "way points" and all you do is push a button to "route it" and sit back and enjoy the ride.
Haven`t got lost or missed a turn yet with this thing.

the need to get on the stick.
You need to find a Cabelas store, they list the coordinates on their web page. When more companies warm up to GPS they'll start adding them.

We use the Delorme gps. I need the street address and zip code. It will then route me to the address.

I think that listing the CG coordinates is a great idea. I've been at CG's that list their coordinates on their CG maps. This is helpful for setting up your portable satellite dish. While I have a GPS to find my location, not everyone does. The Satfinder program that I use for aiming my satellite dish, uses either a US city, or US zip code or the GPS coordinates. Since I travel in Canada as well as the US, GPS coordinates are all that I use because they are accurate and common to all locations.

I also think that adding GPS coordinates would be a great idea, and I'd gladly pay for the information. In the meantime, though, there are several websites that perform address-to-coordinates conversions. One I use is: http://www.geocode.com/modules.php?name=TestDrive_Eagle.

Are you using a paper directory or Trailer Life's CD? I have the TL CD and it shows the location on the map (you can get the lat/lon off the map and put that in your GPS unit). I also use MS Streets and Trips that also shows camp ground location on the map which also allows you to get coordinates. Which GPS unit are you using? The newer ones with map capability can be loaded with camp ground information.

I second what you are suggesting. My Streetpilot 2160 has many, but not all, campgrounds in the database. And earlier this week I tried to use the Find to locate the Desoto State Park campground. Couldn't find it. But when I did a zoom down to the Ft. Payne area, sure enough, there it was. And yes, I was using All Attractions for the search. So having either a physical address or better yet, lat/long in the Trailer Life Directory would be a GREAT idea. Meanwhile, I do keep the lat/long and altitude of campgrounds I have visited in a personal database so I can easily return. It's just those first trips - especially those "Gee, I'm really tired, I wonder where the closest campground is" situations - where having lat/long would be a really blessing.
