I'm cobbling together a large portable dish for reception in fringe areas. Have tried two "generic" types of LNB's, but they don't seem to take well to the Dish receiver. Do I need a certain type of LNB that's compatible with Dish? I may be wrong but, I thought I saw DISH type LNB's at Radio Shack. The critical factor is the distance between the LNB and the dish. If you are using a different size dish the distance between the LNB and the dish will change. There is a new LNB out from Dish Network called the ProDish LNB and this is not backward compatible with the "legacy" receivers, but the older LNB's are forward compatible with the newer receivers.
