We're looking for a awning cover for our slide out. Looking for input on what brand to buy. We've been looking at the:
Carefree Caribbean
A&E Awning
Also when measuring the slideout I've read online to measure the outside room only. I stopped a RV dealer and they measured from the outside trim to outside trim.
So which is best? Is it better to measure from outside to outside trim? Or is it better to measure the outside to outside of the room itself?
Any tricks to installing the Awning yourself?
Thanks for any information you can give us!

We just had our's replaced and the dealer told me to just measure the room as they figure the in with the measurements. We bought the carefree without the window overhang. We had the window overhang on the old one and didn't like it. We'll install the window awning by itself if we need it. The carefree had the wind resistant cover. Plus cost was a factor.

Thank for the info. We're not wanting the window hanger either. I've seen a few of the Carefree Awnings on campers and they seen to be pretty nice.

We’re going to purchase the Carefree Guardi-Awn because we want independent operation of the slide out awning. However, these all come with the window overhang. What was it about the window overhang that you didn’t like? I’m guessing it could be the blocked view or a feeling of being closed in. If so; did you look at their Fullview material that allows you to see thru it?

I have the window overhang and really like it. Also you can elect not to put the overhang out but I find I can tie the overhang down and really snug up the awning so that the rain runs off much better.
