Hey did you know that street signs with just a slight lean toward the street are at the same height as your rolled up awning? I found out today! Slight tear and I do mean slight in the 1 year old awning fabric. Any tear will let the elements in. Any suggestions for repair or do I need to call insurance? Signed crying in Texas.....

I'm gonna watch this thread. Go the same problem. I left the awning out in a slight rain and I meen slight. The thing is 16ft long and got overloaded. Bowed the long part and droped. When I came down, it hit something and I go the rip.
I now have a center rafter to install and a rip to fix.
Never thought to asked how to repair.

Had a small hole in my awning. Repaired it with this and it worked great. http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?deptID=&subOf=54,2&skunum=2795

I assume it is a vinyl type awning. Does your dealer or manufacturer have a recommended repair procedure ? If so, it might make sense to use what they recommend.
I had one on my last Class C that was about 1 inch in length on each side in an "L" shape. (The door swung into it while putting it up.) I bought and used a kit with a tube of clear vinyl repair stuff from my RV dealer. I just read and followed the instructions. It was invisible from more than a couple of feet.
It worked well for me, but you will have to read the instructions and make sure you find and use the right repair material and procedure for you and your awning. I am sure there is more than one way to do it. It probably depends on the awning material, how bad it is, how clean/even the tear is, if there are any jagged marks, and what color material it is on.
Good luck.

They also make a product called VLP "Vinyl liquid patch" Kind of a gooey stuff in a tube, put in on the tear and let it dry, hardens and seals the hole, scratch, crack? Whatever. Check the RV dealers.
