Just wondering how many of the dedicated Corelle users are also owners of Rear Kitchen fifth wheels? I've been looking at Melamine dishes, but they aren't usually recommended for the microwave. Have also looked at some of the plastics (polycarbonates) that are OK for the microwave, but they will scratch with sharp knives according to the ads. Corelle seems to be the best option, even cheaper than some of the plastics, believe that or not! My question is this....will it be too bumpy back there for Corelle? And, does anyone own Melamine and use it in the microwave to reheat, if nothing else? [red]Our Cougar is already in!!! Wasn't supposed to be here til mid April! Now, if we can fight the urge to pick it up early!!!!

Well I'm not sure if the Correlle will stand up to whatever amount of "bumping" it'll get in your back kitchen, but my set is quite old and nothing's broke, unlike any other set of "china" we've had over the years.
As for the Melamine, yes, microwaves will damage them. You'll get away with some limited use in a microwave, but sooner or later they crack.

put some baby locks on the cabinet doors that way they wont open while in route and if they do the lock will only open so far saving your dishes and whatever else is up there, another good thing for the locks are if an emergency stop happins you know the stuff isnt going to the front of the trailer.

If your coach is bouncing bad enough to break Corelle dishes.....you're going to have a lot more broken than dishes. We have used them for ages, including one very un-nice road in Alaska where all the dishes came out and crashed to the floor in our last coach and none of them broke. They are the answer to those of us who hate cheap plactic and paper plates.

We have had some Corelleware bounce out and break....guess it hit some of the oak trim or dinette table.

We now tie the two dish and pot cabinets (overheads) shut with shoe strings....cheap and easy.

I use the non-skid pad between mine. I have had no problems with them breaking yet. My rear kitchen 5er does not have shocks either. I don't have problems with doors opening or stuff falling out and breaking like some of the people post. maybe just lucky??? JMHO

We have always used Corelle. On our first trip on our old 5th wheel one of the kitchen cupboard came open and a couple of plated fell on the kitchen table and shattered, scrathed table. We pickup up pieces for a couple of years. I put an extra catch on that cupboard and never had another problem.

Our 5er has had Corelle dishes in the rear kitchen since '89 or '90... no breakage. We bought this unit from my parents, and mom always used the non-slip stuff between dishes. Since it's already there, I've continued to use it.

We've been using Corelle in this trailer which is a rear kitchen and 2 previous popups without anything breaking.

The past 4 years we have been in a rear kitchen 5er and traveled about 60,000 miles with Corelle. I broke one cup and that is cuz I dropped it on the floor. Need I say more?
