Good posts guys. Learned a lot. Best thing is to have the best darned tires you can possible have and to check them every time out with the camper. I think 15 inch tires have no place on 5th wheels and few trailers. I also think people run tires which are long past replacement. I am really surprised at just how few tire problems there are considering how neglectful people are about them. I'll bet the average car never gets the tires checked unless the guy doing the oil change does it and how often do these folks change the oil? I had my local car dealer tell me that he had just had a person in who purchased a car two years earlier and was in for the first time because the check engine light was coming on. Hood had not been opened from the time the car left the dealer. About 30K on the oil. That's how good the cars are made today.Think that person checked the tires? There are plenty of people who just put gas in them and that's it. Course if you trade every couple years maybe you can get by. It would be an interesting experiment to see just how far you could get without opening the hood.

Thanks for all the feed back.

Yes BenK I should have never, ever plugged that tire. The hole was in the area that you said was safe to plug, but the truck was driven home in a deflated condition. Meaning the rim probably damaged the sidewalls.

And yup when she blows DO NOT TOUCH THE BRAKES. The truck will slow down all by it's self. Just minimize sterrin input until you get way down in speed then pull over very gently.

It was the rear tire BTW.
