I spotted a remote camera set-up at Costco yesterday for $80.00.
It was a VR3 I believe. The small camera is part of the license plate bracket and the 3"screen attaches to the sun visor.
I was tempted to buy it but first thought I would ask on this forum if anyone has tried it. I have a 32' fiver and wonder if the remote signal is powerful enough to make it to the truck.........

I have seen them,they are a great deal.Why not buy it and if it doesnt reach return it.It is a pretty good didtance for you application.I tried a baby monitor on a TT years ago and the signal came through at around 40 feet.If it works its a bargain.

I bought one last weekend for my F150.........taking it back today!......thing drives me nuts!.....
The monitor stays on all the time while the camera only comes on when the truck is in reverse.........the rest of the time when your driving around, the monitor flashes on and off a white snowy picture......
If you had it transmit a picture all of the time rather than just as a back up camera.........it might be OK?......but at 32' for the fiver plus the truck, my guess is it will be iffy?

don't know anything about them, but if the camera is only on while backing, it must only be powered when in reverse....
if the monitor is on all the time it must be powered all the time... that should be easy enough to solve...

Do a search for: VR3 or wireless backup cameras and you'll have a lot to read about. I had purchased a VR3, hooked it up on my F350 diesel so that I could see to hitch up the trailer. Picture was great UNTIL, I started the truck then I got all snow. Took it back the next day, I now have a wired system thanks to the help of 2ManyToyz from Florid.

I installed one on my 31 foot "C"... The instuctions are to hook hot wire of camera to back-up light circuit (which is why camera only on when in reverse, of course). I rewired the camera to be switchable with a fuseable wire and switch...only on when I want it to be on... same with monitor. Now I just flip the power switch and check toad to see if all in order. These are not made to be on all the time...but intermittently to check things out. Works very well for the price.

Thanks for the replies, what Kitty says concerns me, I also have an F350 diesel.
If the screen goes to snow with engine on, backing would be difficult.
If I decide to install one, I will do as JRandal did and make the camera and monitor switchable.

I used this for the screen.
And this for the camera.
The camera only comes with 25 feet of RCA cable, so I got another 25 foot cable from Radio Shack and an adapter to plug the two together (also from Radio Shack). That and some wire for power and I was all set.
I used "zip ties" to attach the monitor to the rear view mirror. Works GREAT!  Way better than the VR3.

I've had one for months in my F-150 and love it. The third button down turns off the monitor. I turn my monitor off as it disrupts the FM signal on very distant stations.
I don't know about the range but I got mine to prevent running over grandchildren. The ease of hooking up my TT was a bonus.

I have one on my F250 Diesel and find it to be a great help in hooking up the various utility and boat trailers I pull.
