I saw this rv home and it started me thinking. What if a community of this type home/rv building was to pop up in a good location, how many people would buy into it? I am not a builder, developer, or do I have anything to do with the web site, but my wife and I love to camp and when we are able, if ever, to retire we are not sure we want to full time but a lot of time for sure. We thought this would be a way to do both and not have so much to take care of. My thinking would be a community for retired, semi retired, and folks that love to camp, small, say .25 acre lots, with outside and inside options. I think it would fly. What do other RV type folks think?

I figured as much, but how are they going over? What are the price points?

That is exactly what we have talked about, if we ever decide to stop; buying a few acres and building a structure such as that.

I don't understand the concept. If you would spend that much money for a lot why not just live in a house? Why can't these places be more affordable for the AVERAGE rv owner and not just the rich?

Peeper, It is not just a lot. It also has a RV garage/house combo. Click on the uncle howards link. I think in my area I could have several of the floor plans built for around $100K as long as I did not try to get to fancy. I was thinking this would be for the below average, Average or fixed income folks. You all know the rich don't live in a barn That is why it fits me. I make enough to pay the bills and camp cheap. With this I figure I can save a ton over my today's house payment, smaller utility bills, no rv storage fees, a lot less home to clean and keep up, and then you have the neighborhood.
Like this: Fifth Wheel $50,000
RV barn Home $125,000
Living in a neighborhood full of RV/camping folks Priceless

We have been looking for a piece of land, maybe between 2 to 5, to build something like that. But everything we have found in this area is either sandwiched between undesirable's or to hilly to work.
Piece of land around $250K, home/shop combo $100K would be great in my book.
If a development poped up like that here depending on lot sizes I'd be on the list.

Here is a Photo of mine, unfortunately I build a house on the same piece of property. Would be nice if I could just move it. We have plans to sell and later build just the RV garage on a small piece of property, but like said before it is hard to find property that is zoned correctly to where you can do that, if you want to stay out of the slum areas...

I found a community in Fla that is what I was looking for but it is a little on the steep side. but it does show that someone always else had my idea first. Heres a linkRV home
I still like the barns better. Country, I guess. If you live in a barn with a 40 foot attached garage ya just might be a country boy or some people say redneck.
