I sent Napier an Email asking them if they might be interested in making a tent, like the one in the link, that would fit a Chevy Express Van, or Ford Van. Hopefully I will hear something from them, if not I will send a letter off to the President of the company. I think this would be a pretty good solution for an extra room, and since the tent is not attached, you can just drive away, go into town, sightseeing, etc.

I've seen these tents for various SUV's, mini-van's... even some hatchbacks. Seems like it would be a fun idea for a B! I wonder if they already have a model that might work.

This site has a number of tents that look like they would work for B-sized vans:

Thanks mumkin,
They have that side tent, but it takes up so much room. I would really like to find a rear one like the Napier.

Actually many of the tents on the site I put above look to be Napier tents...

I don't think any of the rear Napier tents will fit my Chevy Express Van. I also asked Napier about current models that would work, but I doubt, from reading their product info, that any will. Hopefully they will get back to me with some answers.

I have a side tent that I got to use with my Westy. It's about 6' by 11' (same footprint as the Tour Compact Tent at Eurocampers) and it sets up so the long side is parallel with the van. When the van is parked and the tent shroud is attached, the tent sticks out about 8 feet to the side.
To me, one BIG advantage of the side tents is that you can open your door and go directly into the tent. With the rear tents you'd have to either climb over the bed or go out and around.
A disadvantage, depending on your vehicle, is that most of the side tents are made to clamp onto the rain gutter. If you don't have a rain gutter you'd have to find another way to tie it off. Bus Depot sells some suction cups that would work or you might be able to fasten it to the awning.
This site gives the circumferences for the rear tent shrouds of the Napier tents.

I haven't gone out to measure my Roadtrek but maybe the largest one (18-24 feet) would fit?

Casey - does the side tent work with your Roadtrek? I don't have an awning, but the tent sounds nice.
