There has been a "Truck Camper Rally" set up for the southwest area.
It is at Quemado Lake in New Mexico on May,2,3,4. The lake is located
close to the New Mexico/Arizona border in the northern Gila Forest.

Here is the sign up link2008 Southwest Rally.

This could be a nice spring get together. Here is a link
to the Quemado Lake

Had agreat time at the Rally. Winds were 25-45mph for the drive up,
and they were down to nothing after sundown and for the rest of the Rally.

on the turn to the lake

They had all the wood cut for us at the group shelter.

I'm at the NW rally right now. We have 8 or 9 here. I think fuel prices are curbing rallies these days. Hotter than stink, it will be close to 100 today.

That sounds a bit hot for the NW.Should make for mild nights at the campfire.
Have a cold one and enjoy!

Great photo series. It'll be added to Trip Reports!

We really like the Socorro site too.

Another site (ALMA) is currently under construction in Chile's Atacama Desert (Atacama Large Millimeter Array of 64 RTs).

Cheers,

A big thanks to "Matho" for setting up the SW Rally, and Beddows for the support, had a good time, maybe next year there can be a few more if the prices drop and the (WIND) will cooperate, had to lay over one day while traveling to Quamato.

My feet are fine as long as they are traveling.
