We headed out yesterday morning for Queretaro. When we got to the far North side of Monterrey we decided to stop and do some last minute banking. Lines were long as Monday was a bank holiday. In 15 minutes the temperature dropped 10 degrees C. and the winds reached 100 kms per hour. Fortunately, we were within blocks of a friends house who has a large enclosed patio and we were able to limp those few blocks there. We dropped the trailer and headed home. Lots of destruction, power outages (we used our generator for 4 hours), and major highways were closed. This morning things have returned to normal so we will be heading out again. Here are some pics we took on the way back to the house. Pretty scary:

Visibility was almost zero
Famous antro we passed, only later to appear on the news completely destroyed

I heard some on the news. Winds were somewhat less in RGV. 70Kms area, however, the air was filled with dust from Mexico. So is my trailer.

WE had lots of wind. Fire started up in Wild Horse Desert north of Edinburg and burned over 26,000 acres with several houses being burned. Still burning now.
We had major dust storm here yesterday, as well.
Must be that global warming....er...climate change, that we hear so much about.

Wow, it was windy here in Pharr (RGV) but nothing like that. In fact, it has been windy most days since we've been here. Can't imagine spending my winters in a place where the wind howls and you're covered with dust half the time.
Progreso is fun, though.

It has been wicked windy here in Quintana Roo also, but nothing like what you experienced, Chris. How incredibly frightening to have it happen with your rig! Glad you escaped without damage (yes?).

Well, we did get home in time to tie down the patio furniture. the pool was a complete mess after i had just cleaned it and got it ready for our absence.
We are now in Tamazunchale and we came over the mountains for Queretaro. What a drive! We will be on the road for about another week. We will stay here along the river for week. Lots to share and some cool places to visit. Anyone ever go down to La Encarnación along the 85 passing through Parque Nacional Los Marmoles? What a trip!
