Good job Don!!
I will try to get some more pictures up later on today. This trip was a total blast made even more so by local knowledge of the area from Don & Janet. It turns a vacation into an adventure. Add the White Rim Trail and you have the recipe for extreme adventure...

Great travelog. Almost has that Earthroamer internet photo and write up rally/trip feel to it. Someday I will do it.

I was able to visit Canyonlands and Arches in March of last year. I was so amaised I took the girlfriend back in July. In July it was smokin hot but not to busy. I stayed on the pavement you could see those little 2 tracks down there from the Island in the sky. Great photos and great trip I envy you guys. I have been to every state except the islands and this has to be the most scenic, they all have some beutifull places but southern Utah is it for me.

Don! You guys all made it look easy and fun. Now I want to go back. Your weather made for better pix and a great write-up as well. That backside to Hardscrabble where you drop to the Green was the muddiest and was what made my underwear tight. Did you see my ruts? Hope Steve and Ben will throw up some shots also. Cheers to all you folks. See you in the Maze sometime!
PS. Your pic of Musselman Arch is MUCH better than mine and from a better angle. Now I HAVE to go back.

Thanks Dave. And that pic (one of many) of folks on Musselman Arch was REAL. Somehow that one of Lynn on the arch almost looked like you photochopped her on to the top of the arch (but of course I KNOW that you would never stoop to such methods).
In terms of your ruts from January, when we interacted with the National Park Ranger on 3/14 to get the backcountry permit for our trip, she showed us an FBI Wanted Dead or Alive poster on the wall of park headquarters of someone named Dave "Whazoo" Rogers. Apparently the Federal government had to allocate several million dollars in emergency funds for a major rut remediation and reclamation project through the Army Corps of Engineers to make the White Rim Trail passable again after this "Whazoo" fellow went through and trashed the trail in January for other law-abiding visitors. If you do decide to go back, I would play a very low profile, consider wearing a disguise, and you might also want to come up with a different alias than Whazoo.

Ha ha Don, Already I'm dying my mustache and hair pitch black for incognito. Got a new pair of shades too LOL. That pic of Lynn was photochopped but only by blurring out the background to TRY to make the arch more visible. It gave me a headache to look at it too.
BTW, if they catch me you're goin down too buddy...you were the instigator! I just drove the get-away truck.

Dave:
Great trip. You said you do not recommend driving that road with duals? What about a crew cab? Is that because of the rocks and narrow road and the sharp switchbacks make duals and a long wheelbase unreasonable or impossible for that long rough trail? Sometimes I wish I had purchased a pop up like you!
