Is the Propride 3P hitch really the same as the Hensley with added improvements? I'm just really nervous about dropping $2500+ on a hitch and want to make sure I get the best one out there.

The ProPride and the Hensley both work on the same principal and both should be equally effective. There are some differences in how they mount, drawbar, struts, jacks, but those things all do the same job on both hitches. Whether one is better than the other remains to be seen after enough of the new one get into the field and get some miles put on them. The ProPride has just recently begun to ship to purchasers.
If you are leaning towards the ProPride, I would not be hesitant to go with it.

As Barney said, both hitches work on the same principle. Propride indeed has several improvements over the Hensley. Just how much of an improvement, remains to be seen. However, there are a few of them out there on the road now, and all indications are that the ProPride is every bit as good, if not better.
If you're serious about a ProPride, here is a link to some pictures of one that was just installed. Might help answer some of your questions.

Pro-Pride is a new company that as I understand it was late in shipping its first hitches. It is cheaper than the Hensley, don't you wonder why? If it were me, I would go with the Hensley. I sure don't want to spend a lot of money on a white elephant. Hensley has been around for quite a while and will probably be around for a long time in the future. Pro-Pride? No way to tell.

Actually the maker of the hensley hitch is the one who designed the pro ride. I would not hesitate at all to buy a pro ride.

I just rec'd my new Pro Pride and these comments are simply uninformed. Just because it is less expensive does not make it a "white elephant". More than likely, now that there is competition with Hensley, you will see the Hensley price more competitive. I only have a couple hundred miles on my Pro Pride and am still in the "getting used to it" phase, however find it to be as represented and then some. I liked the fact that you can deal directly with one person at Pro Pride (Sean) via email or phone and can tell you that he answers back right away, including weekends. He kept me informed on the progress of manufacturing and yes, they were a bit late in shipping due to powder coat painting, but not that late. I was informed a couple of weeks before the ship date and was informed the day it shipped. My credit card was not charged until I had the hitch. Installation took about 3.5 hours by myself and certainly would have gone quicker with a helper. The instructions were step by step and you can phone Sean anytime with questions. Once I got it adjusted correctly all is great. I have only pulled on one windy day, but found it to be rock solid, as compared to my former WD hitch. It takes a bit getting used to hook up, but no major issues. All in all I am more than satisfied with the Pro Pride, the service and the product quality. I expect others who are getting theirs soon can verify this.

Why are people reluctant to pay $2500 for a hitch when they know if they don't like it they can sell it for $1500 to get some money back.
People do not hesitate to spend $25,000+ for a trailer and floor plan they like along with a $25,000+ truck to pull the trailer.
The weakest link in any set up most likley would be the hitch.
Not saying there is anything wrong with a $300 or $500 hitch.
People bark at paying $2500 for hitch yet they don't mention the huge $$ they pay to buy a trailer with a certain floor plan or model. Maybe it's psychological
Hensley is tried and proven. ProPride based on similar mechanics I assume is also good value for the money if put to the test.

I've always asked the same question... 20-30K for a TT, 30-50K for a truck and then skimp on arguably the most important part of the rig that ties the TV to the TT...
I'm not flaming the OP, just making a comment in response to the above post...
Either the hensley, Propride, or Pullrite - great hitches all and IMHO, the Pullrite is the best...

Thanks for the replies - I believe I'm going to get a ProPride, just as soon as I can pry my wallet apart..... $2500 is a lot of flippen money.

Honestly, Justfying the cash is the hardest part. If you do as Les suggest and consider how much you have invested in your rig, paying for a top of the line hitch is easier to swallow. But if you compare cost of HA/PP vs. DC/EQ Spending a couple of grand extra is hard to swallow. I had reservations but I will say the $3K I spent (I can say that now with ease) was well worth it. The HA has made my towing experience much more relaxing. The PP seems to be a good unit. Had it been available when I purchased, I would have surely given it a closer look. Competition and choices are good for the consumer. Maybe HA will drop there prices to compete. I do wonder if there is enough demand to support both of them.
