When the time comes I'll be looking at Goodyear tires. I may pay a little more but the peace of mind is worth it. Greenball Tires is another option. I think they are made by B F Goodrich.

Many Goodyear ST/RV tires are made in Mainland China.
GreenBall's are made in Taiwan.
The only ST tires I could find made in the USA were Titans... which I promptly bought a set of 4.

What to do... Carlisle is willing to replace all 5 of my tires with fresh same size/model/LR, or I can go with my choice of ST tires, within a certain range for reimbursement... Question is, what tires to run???
- Carlisle - had a bad experience prior and vowed never to buy again, came on the 21SS from the factory, and aren't doing so well
- Duros - used to love them, but my last set bought isn't holding up so well
- Titans - Hear of frequent blow-outs
- Towmasters - changes hands so much that they now seem to be in the "junk" category
- Marathons - Taking a real beating in the forums and internet reviews. Had them long ago when there were made in Canada and loved them though...
- Maxxis - Currently getting good reviews, next to impossible to find. Talked to their largest northeast region distributor and he won't get 5 so I can do a swap local. Called back to Maxxis and they gave me all the numbers in the tri-State area that supposedly could - none can get them. Only choice drop ship and have somewhere mount them. If I do, I will exceed the limit Carlisle is willing to reimburse.
UGH! Thoughts?

Take the max amount you can get from Carlisle and pay the difference to get the Maxxis brand.
At least then, you'll know you have a quality product on your trailer.

I am not currently a fan of Carlisle, and I too will be dealing with them shortly.
I recently purchased my 2003 Starcraft 19 CK on the used market. I drove down with my family from Ottawa to Atlanta and towed it back. On the way back, we had a tire go out on us. The damage to the trailer was unbelieveable! More debris inside than out. Smashed wheel well, cabinetry, electrical and plumbing. We changed the tire, stopped at the local walmart and replaced the spare and were on our way. I inspected the remainder of the tires, and they had no visible signs of damage or immenent failure.
A few hundred miles later, another tire goes! Upon ispection, we see that a third was about to go. We were forced to leave the unit on the side of the road overnight while we hunted down a set of tires.
So right now, we have 4 tires in varying states of failure: 1 brand new looking, 1 with chunks missing, one with tread missing and the last one in pieces, with balls of wound up belts for good measure.
I am not sure how to approach Carlisle. Unfortunately, the replacement tires are also Carlisle, although they are the radial trail models indstead of the radial ST models. The tire specialist told me that the new ones would not seperate like these did.
A call to Starcraft gain me little as they were not aware of widspread issues with thier factory supplied tires.
The damage to the trailer was in excess of $3000.00, by the way. It seems that body work and carpentry is double the price when you tack 'RV' on the label. I could never understand that. It is a disposable income thing?
Happy RV-ing!

A couple of years ago I purchased a new Starcraft 21SSO and it came with Carlisle tires. I had read about them on this forum and was worried from day one. I watched the pressure and weighed my trailer and kept my speed under 65. Sure enough, I had a blowout on a day when the temperature was about 80 degrees.
I immediately replaced all 5 of the tires and then contacted Carlisle. I did everything they asked, I sent in the tire, I also sent in my weight slips and wrote them an avadavat about the situation. I also contacted the DOT and lodged an official complaint.
In my letter to Carlisle, I told them all of this and they did send me a check for the cost of the replacements. I went to a local dealer and purchased a tire they they would warranty. If I have problems in the future I will be able to deal with the local company.
Good luck. Trailer tires are quite the gamble.

Your best bet is to go with LT tires, not ST tires. Not sure if LT tires are available in your size.

Just returned from a trip from NJ to Wisconsin. Blew 3 out of 4 Carlisle tires.
The only reason we didn't blow the 4th is that after the 3rd blow out we automatically replaced the 4th, since the odds were against us. Scott C. would you mind sharing who you contacted at Carlisle? I'd love to talk to them about this. I have my doubts about Carlisle now.
Thanks.

Jersey Jim, Just call their Customer Care number at 1-800-260-7959 and ask for Brenda.
If anyone is interested, I have decided to give Maxxis tires a shot. They have a pretty good warranty so why not. I am having them drop shipped to my dealer who has an agreement in-place with a tire shop to dismount and mount for $8 per wheel, and my dealer will eat the cost in labor to R&R them while I wait there as they will be doing my warranty repairs/replacements during the same trip. I think my dealer is really trying to step up after the awful first experience post-sale with my first round of warranty issues... They are also supporting me in pushing FR to pony up the $40 for the mounting since Carlisle isn't covering it...
