Well, dealer is handling all my warranty items except the tires. I have to deal with Carlisle directly. So, I am trying to do some homework to see what I am in for... My issue is that I first discovered that one of my tires has sidewall cracking down to the belting! I have sinced inspected all 5 tires on both sides and along the tread. I have found that two more with what I would describe as crazing (which is the term for spider cracking) all over the sidewalls, but hidden as it's on the interior side versus the one first noticed being outboard. Given my background, I know this is a breakdown of the antioxidants and UV stabilizers.

Our HTT will not turn 1 year-old until August and has only 2600 miles on it. I maintain 50psi cold throughout the year, treat the tires regularly, and cover them when parked... I think the very fact the "Made in China" is cast right into the sidewall explains it all... We're talking ST205/75R14 LRC radials here.

Now my question is, does Carlisle stand behind their product or am I looking at a battle? I had Carlisles before, and swore I'd never purchase another set, but the Shamrock came with these... I have seen Carlisle ripped on the forums many times, just wondering about recent owner experience and not just relayed from the brother or cousin Judy twice-removed...

TIA!

I just replaced all 5 of my Carlisle's. I had tread separation on the last trip I made last season. I had a blowout on one, and a twisted belt on a second 2 weeks ago, and had tread separation yesterday. I threw the 5th one out in the trash. I replaced them with good ol' USA made Titans. I like them so far.

My experience with Carlisle, after a blow out, was good. They reimbursed me for 5 new tires and paid for the damage to my trailer. Call them.

I've had 3 Carlisle's blow out and the 4th had a bulge the size of an egg on the sidewall. Discount Tire replaced 2 of them and Carlisle reimbursed me for the other two. I had to provide receipts for the replacement tires, but I had a check from Carlisle within two weeks. This doesn't mean I like Carlisle, but they did take care of the situation. Kudo's to Discount Tire for stepping up and handling 2 of them, even though they had no vested interest in those tires. They were just taking care of a long-time customer.

Don't confuse good good customer service or a good warranty for a good product. Carlisle Tire is noted for good customer service. Carisle Tire is infamous for tire quality.

Chuck's response is spot on.
I would rather pay for another brand and avoid the inevitable problems than put free Carlisle's on my TT. They actually used to make a good tire but not anymore.

Problem is, there are NO decent trailer tires anymore! I used to swear by Duros after my prior favorites left the market. Have actually had to replace Duros due to tread wear on my various trailers (I also have hauler/cargo and utility trailers). However, I currently have a 5 year-old set on one trailer and a 2 year-old set of the exact same size and model on another. The older tires look great, but the newer tires have a noticeable crack all the way around where the tread belts meet at the sidewalls. Same care, same frequency of use.

emaav, I use 303 Aerospace Protectant. I am actually a scientist, and know a few things about polymers and tire compounds. Most every manufacturer says the same, but it's easier for them to say that versus recommend something. Reason being, is that most dressings are either silicone or petroleum based. You want neither on tire compounds as they strip away the additive packages, which will accelerate degredation. Same goes for most tire cleaners as they are usually highly alkaline. The best case is to clean with a more pH-neutral, water-based, solvent free auto wash (hard to find in the chain stores, need to go to a real detailing supply) and apply one of the very few protectants that contain UV inhibitors and penetrants.

Last dealings I had with them, I was told tires were warranted and then not as they were over/under inflated (NOT). Pressure was kept at 50 psi+/- 1 psi at all times. 5000 lb TT 60 mph or under. I in turn promised them a lawsuit and they decided to make good. Been using Maxxis ever since and have five today after selling my Marathons after a 1250 mile use and lost one.JMHO

I looked for Maxxis trailer tires less than a month ago. No one had them.
