Took the MH to a parking lot. Got the same numbers as at home. pulled in the driveway and talked with a base station about 4 miles away off the rear of the MH where I should have the least TX and RX. I am a Happy Camper now. Just wish the antenna wasn't 12 feet 8 inches of the ground. I already hit 3 trees with it just now. Glad it has a spring.

I may have to get a 2 foot antenna as the 3 foot is just to tall. Wonder how much of a difference it will make?

Here's an update. It is working! I tried it on a trip up to Mammoth Lakes last weekend. Not a lot of CB use on Hwy 395. But I did check a radio check 3 miles out.
I am now using a Firestik Firefly 3 foot regular antenna and regular coax. I earlier last week ran a 2 foot and a 6 foot #10 wire to each sides rain/awning gutter from the antenna mount attached to the top of my rear ladder. I had a match of 1.7 on ch1 and ch40 and 1.3 on ch20. But I lost the tip on top of the antenna on the trip. When I got home, my match was off.
I called Firestik and they mailed me out a replacement tip. When I went up to put it on, I noticed that because the antenna was short electrically, I had turned the tuning screw way out. There was nothing for the plastic tip to grasp on. I called Firestik today, and the tech was really helpful. He said to take the new tip and drill a little hole in the plastic tip and place it over the adjusting screw. He also suggested that if I need to make the antenna electrically longer, I could replace the common brass 1 1/4" screw with a longer one to make further adjustments if needed.
I retuned the antenna and now ahve the following: Ch1-1.5, ch20-1.3 and ch40-1.5. I don't think I can do much better than that. All I need now is for some of you to start using your CB radio.
