I'm on my third TV. All have been/are in front of wheel well. Don't have to duck under fiver to hook/unhook.

Mine is in the driver's side of the bed between the wheel well and the tailgate. It's a great place to access, and to date have not had any issues.

Mine.
No drilling other than 2 small screws to hold the bracket.
No splicing into factory wiring.

This and a bracket is all you need or make your own for about $25.00. Bracket $5.00.

how did you get it from below the bumper up to where it is now? Is that a spray in liner or drop in?

As the top picture indicates, there is a factory hole near the top of the bedrail - and it is grommeted so it wont cut the wire. The bottom picture shows it is plugged into the factory connector at the bumper.
The bedwalls are double walls. The cable runs between the inner and outer wall. Theres lots of space (you can see from the bottom) so its not tricky to lace the cable.
If you buy a prefab extension (cable with connectors attached), you will need to remove 1 end to lace it thru the hole. Thats why I suggest buying the pieces and making it yourself. Then just use plastic wire-wraps (available HD, Lowes, etc) to hold the wire in place under the fender area. I can use the plugs at either location.
1-Male 7 Pin connector
1-Female 7 Pin connector
~ 7 feet of 7 conductor cable available at any RV shop
1 mtg plate
The wire colors in the cable matched the connector so it was simple.
Or use this:
http://www.marksrv.com/wiring.htm
There are just 2 screws in the bracket that holds the connector in the bed. Then just connect the connectors to the cable. It was really easy, 'Even a caveman could do it'...Heck, even I can do it.

Ditto
Same for me.. Works great. You have to lower the tailgate to plug or unplug, this way you won't forget to lower the tailgate.
