I recently bought a new TV, a 2007 2500HD Silverado D/A Crew Cab. Is it ok to take this through the car wash? It has the extendable towing mirrors but I can fold them in and it's well under the height restriction. I'm going to ask the car wash employee when I get there but was wondering if anyone here has done this.

If it fits under the height check bar...go for it...I only go thru cloth car washes in the DW's car. My F250 won't fit thru most auto carwashes.

You might want to push the tow mirrors in - there may not be enough clearance for them. I bring my truck to the self wash in the winter.

I've found I can generally use the touchless washes with no issues, but don't mess with the soft-cloth because the fabrics grab my mirrors and want to pull them out from the folded down position.

Besides height and width, some in-bay automatics are length-limited, too. They may be able to handle a 20' vehicle.

Conveyor type washes won't have length limitation.

But...make sure there is nothing in the truck bed. The high pressure sprays and blowers will turn loose items into missles. And, 5th wheel hitches are frowned upon due to grease transfer and being "Snag Masters" for the cloth curtains.

At "full service washes" don't be alarmed if you see an employee riding in your truck as it moves through the tunnel. The big truck tires can climb over the guide rails of the conveyor...the rider is there to prevent that from happening.

I don't know about New Jersey, but in Texas most automated car washes will handle any size pick up. The car washes hear even have a dually setting. I would say you are fine with your regular sized pick up.

I haven't found an automatic car wash, touchless or soft cloth, that my F250 wouldn't fit through. Unless yours is lifted, height shouldn't be an issue. My topper is about an inch higher than the cab, so I have to be aware of it.

No problem with my F350 CC long bed. The front attendant folds my mirrors in and the backside attendants fold them out when they towel dry the truck. I go to 2 different ones. Both use the spinning brushes and the moving cloth "walls". I do have a roll type cover over my bed covering my hitch.

I take mine through the car wash... I try to avoid the ones with the plastic bristle brushes...

My last truck was dark blue and I picked up a pattern on my tailgate and I suspect it was one car wash that I no longer go to...

Honestly I am not much of a clean the car myself type of guy, so if it didn't go through the car wash, it wouldn't get cleaned much...

I figure that hand washing my truck myself is repayment for the good times it allows us to enjoy.
