We have a Garmin 7200 for the motorhome, we liked the larger screen, and we just got a 750 at Sam's club for the car.. The 7200 is/was too big for the car's dash.. No place to put it, so we went with the smaller 750.. They have been great with support so far..

I think both are good makers, and can perform to your liking. Garmin, however, would be my choice. Just a matter of personal experience and preference.

I am a Truck Driver and have had many, and tried many, but my vote goes for the Garmin, due to it being easy to use and lots of features. I have owned 2 Magellans and liked them and have tried tom tom, mio and a couple of others and the ease of use and features goes to Garmin all the way

I bought a garmin nuvi 205w in the U.S. in January .Crossed the border into Canada and it has no roads. I registerd it when I got home last week and they downloaded a software update for it. Also had a chance to down load a free map up grade so I downloaded the north america map and now it don't work worth a crap. Tried for a couple days to get hold of garmin and no luck. Was on hold for an hour then it would disconnect the call. Tried on line and their website is down quite often. Emailed them they sent me a fix still didn't work. All I want is to actually talk to a human and not a machine. Stuck right now don't know what to do with it. My old garmin worked perfect in both Canada and the U.S. right out of the box. So when I had to replace it I didn't hesitate to get another garmin. but now?????

If you do buy the Magellan, buy it at Costco so you can take it back when fails and it will. There service is just a run a round. When you send it in for service they send you somebody else's broke re manufactured unit that may have the same or new problems. It's a gamble with the Magellan. We know first hand.

I have owned both the Magellan and Garmin. Both give good directions and easy to use. The Magellan was poorly built and fell apart on me. Had to be glued in several places and not much longer after that it died. The Garmin is well built and has given excellent service. I will go with Garmin again.

Side question, slightly off topic...

Given the flat nose of a Class A, does anyone experience reception problems? Seems like it would cut down significantly on the number of satellites it can aquire. Or does everyone use an extended antenna?

I keep a Garmin on the edge of the dash near the driver's windshield pillar. I have no problem with satellite reception. I do have an external antenna but so far haven't needed to use it.

I never have had a problem with the Garmin GPS sitting on the edge of the dash.
