We tried to book a site in this campground and they wanted over $700 for a month stay. Thought that was high! The woman we talked to didn't seem to know much about the campground. Had to hang up several times to talk to the owner and call us back. Owner was not available to talk to. We ask for a month rate and she said owner said no month rate. Reason for that was...he said.... was people could leave if they didn't like the campground. Never heard this before, anywhere. We have stayed at KOA's all over the USA and never heard this or had an experience like this. It seemed like the owner and his help didn't care if anyone stayed there. Very unfriendly.
Lots of other campgrounds in the area to spend our money in.

The kind of response you received seems out of character with our own experience at this campground. I wonder if there is some kind of miscommunication or something else behind the response you were given. We've stayed there a number of times (1 night stays only) when passing through and found the folks who run this campground to be very friendly and helpful. In fact, this campground is one of our preferred stops for just for this reason.
They are worth another chance - and I hope it gets sorted out for you,

Sorry to hear about your experience and too bad for that KOA as they now lost your business. Go to RV Park Reviews website to see other Sioux Falls RV parks. Have fun in South Dakota.

I just checked their rates and they evidently are about $30 a night so $700 would be $200 off daily.

Ok I just tryed to book a stay at the same Campground for the week of July 12 and was quoted $650. That is more thsn I paid in Disney. they are nuts.

I just ran the same period - July 12 for 7 nights. 30 amp service, full hook-ups, back-in: $39/night for total of $273 before taxes. This is not inexpensive camping - but neither is it inconsistent with rates paid in other KOA's near large urban centres - more than some - less than others.

We were asking for a month rate. We have got a month rate at other KOAs. She quoted us $200 a week which would be $800 a month. I guess they can't add either. They also quoted us $50 day. Everytime I talked to this lady it was a different quote.
We use 50 AMP.
This is much more than we pay at a very nice resort in AZ for the winter.
This is more than we have paid at other KOAs. Near large urban areas!!

I stayed at this KOA 2 years ago enroute to and coming home from the Sturgis SD area. The staff was very friendly and the place was spotless. Sorry to hear your having issues with the rates. I dont recall what we paid but it was within reason or I wouldnt have stayed. Good luck!

This is why I only use KOA`s for an overnite stay! in 6 years of RV`ing i`ve only stayed at a KOA 3 times. and those 3 times were on our trip to MT. the Butte KOA I would never go back to! the Billings MT KOA was very nice and the KOA in Rochester/Marion MN was just OK. again these were just for overnite stays! they offer nothing for me to want to stay longer!

Try the Red Barn RV Campground in Tea, SD, just a couple minutes south of Sioux Falls (605) 368-2268.
