Most difficult campsite to enter? My parents driveway in the mountains. Dropped the truck into four wheel drive and scraped the side of two trees before pulling it around the barn and into a spot.
Ever been to Butte, Montana? I wanted to go to the mining museum while passing through on I-90. Pulled up the hill to make the turn towards the museum. Road Closed. Ended up driving down a dirt alley to make the turn back to the interstate ~ after making it to the museum.

This may take a while. Left upstate NY at 6:00 PM. Destination: Shenandoah National Park. Rig: Dodge Durango towing 28' Streamlite TT. We would overnight at the Luray Walmart just outside Shenandoah, then jump into our reserved camping site in the park in the morning. Entered Walmart coordinates into GPS. Everything was fine until Luray exit on I81. It was about midnight. Between exit and Luray is the Massanutten Mountain range. Climbed mountains. As we got toward the top, GPS told us to turn left. Turned left. Headlights came around onto a narrow one lane road with forest on each side. No problem, I said, we'll just turn around at the next intersection or house. Drove. Drove. Drove some more. No intersection or house. Still climbing mountain. Steep. Switchbacks. 1 mile. 2 miles. Low gas warning light comes on. Very dangerous when climbing mountains while towing. Thinking about backing trailer down 2 miles of road. Kept going. 3 miles. Came to a small U shaped turn around on the left. Stopped rig and walked the U. The U encircled a pit with tall grass growing from it. Didn't look big enough. Told daughter it was happening now. 4 wheel drive and go as wide as possible. Durango was probably on 2 wheels at times. WD hitch was popping and screaming like I've never heard it before. Got it into the U facing the other way. Told DD we should just sleep right there and deal with things in the morning. She said she wasn't sleeping in a camper tipped like THAT. I never looked, didn't want to know. Got it out, finally found Walmart. Gas station right across the street. Turns out I entered coordinates in one format, GPS was set for a different format. Later in the trip a Ranger said he knew the road. It was simply a forest service road. Nobody lived on it. I didn't ask him if it went anywhere or just ended. Everything was fine.

Sure have. Once we stopped to put gas and get coffee at a somewhat larger gas station. I did the usual, pulled into the outer most pump and pulled up enough to leave room in the back and front so that a car could pass if need be. After pumping gas I went and looked at the back passage in the back of the store and say that it ran all the way around--no problem right...
When we started off I took the passage and quickly found that it was a dang drive through for fried chicken and burritos for the store, and it was a small passage at the window.
I sat for a minute with me and the DW looking at the options. The only option was to ask the guy coming up to the window to let me cut in front, hokey-pokey the toad a bit in reverse and drive to clear it and hope it works.
I flat out told him "Man I scrwed up, I need your help, just let me cut in front". He was nice enough to say go for it.
We made it through, just barely with the dolly tires on the curb and inches on the extended mirrors.
Lesson learned-explore your options, explore the all the way around..!!

I have to cut our 32ft long toy hauler between these 2 trees (Of course, the ONLY 2 that survived Hurricane Charley!) on the radius of a curved street.
Then, thru this gate which I originally built for a 7-foot wide PopUp. (The ToyHauler is 8-1/2 feet.) This left about 3 inches clearance on each side. I've since widened the gate by 2 feet, but the trees are still there.

Why not just pull into the guys driveway you took the pic from, After of course, you move his newspaper, so you don't run over it.

Our first fifth wheel - a 30ft Cedar Creek. Our favorite campground - Fallen Leaf Lake outside of south Lake Tahoe. We weren't able to get a drive-through but we REALLY wanted to camp with our firemen friends... So I reserved a back-in. Forgot about the narrow roads lined with trees and giant granite boulders. I took a quick look and decided not a chance - while the site was probably long enough there wasn't enough room for the duelly to maneuver into the chosen spot. DH and a fellow fireman (who owned a very small trailer) decided no problem. I walked to the bathroom after they got the trailer jackknifed and the truck was sitting with a boulder between the two front tires. Many observers were now lining the street to see how they were going to get out of that without damage.. They managed it after about 45 minutes of moving inches each time. And yes, admitted that site wasn't possible. Now if we don't get a drive-through site in that park, we don't go.

Yep, first year I had the camper I was driving to the Outer Banks and stopped for gas at a convenience store. Just as I turned in I realized that the way in was the only way in or out (construction was blocking the other entrance). So I gassed up and spent the next 25 minutes turning around in the smallish parking lot. Me, a newbie, with a 30ft trailer. I was sure entertaining for the locals.

Last summer we were headed back from a weekend trip. My 6 year old told us he needed to go #1. It took a couple minutes to get off the highway, and by then he needed to go NOW!
I whipped into the first place that looked big enough and as soon as I got pulled in,realized it wasn't gonna work.
It was a little parking lot for a trail head.
After the bathroom emergency was taken care of,it was time to try and get out of the parking lot.
It took probably 10 minutes and I had to make a 47 point turn, but it all worked out.

Eastern Oklahoma...blew by the turnoff to the Army Corps of Engineers park where we were headed. 1/4 mile up the road was a left turn where it looked like I could turn around. It wasn't until I made the turn I realized I had pulled into a minimum security state prison...inmates wandering around everywhere, mouths agape, looking at us like we'd dropped in from outer space. DH screeching at me while I made still another turn and finally stumbled across an empty parking lot where I could hook a U turn and get out of there.
No, we didn't pick up any hitchhikers.
Cheers,

That brings back some memories. With us it is usually a tree on one side and some bushes, a tree stump or another tree on the other side. LOL.
Last trip out I saw a guy down the road pulling on to a site kinda fast. Then the wife yells "stop, stop, stop". When he stops she yells "too late, pull ahead" as she is brushing tree bark off the front edge of the trailer.
Slow and easy is my motto.
