saw a few details here last summer:

http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/20434388.cfm

did some research back then, gave up when I put the rig in storage, then as spring is near, I revived my quest to find some stuff... did more research, then found more stuff and things, and voila, ordered up some stuff and started on the project.

ended up getting it all here: LED Interior Lights

I think I saw the LED module on another forum and realized it would fit the little halogen light in the above thread.

The beauty of this is that the color temp of the LEDs is "warm white" unlike the hideous "blue hue" given off by most other white LEDs (blue hue results from a color temp of 5000k and above. the higher the color temp, the more blueish the light is.)

I guess the link that shows the light in the other thread didn't have the LED back when I first saw it, because I specifically remember seeing it (the LED) somewhere else.

At any rate, I started this a few weeks ago and made more progress today.

Here's a few pictures and details, same as I posted on another forum.

The LED thinger fits in this light, which a lot of newer RVs have now:

This is the light near the sink, mounted on the bottom side of the cabinet.

I removed the old light and installed some pigtails to the factory wiring:

connecting the new unit:

Green pigtail goes to the switch, brown goes to the ground side of the lights. (LEDs are polarity sensitive). If the lights are used with a halogen bulb they come equipped with, polarity is a moot point.

All of the under cabinet lights in my rig are operated by a switch on the fixture, so this new unit also has a switch.

I didn't have matching wire color so I used what I found in my junk bin.

Stuffing the wires back up in the hole:

Mounted!! There are some wood plugs (caps) for the screw holes to cover the screw heads, but I haven't installed them yet.

The two holes near the switch are extra which are not really needed. I sent an email to the place I bought these from they said the next production run not have those middle holes.

This one has a switch in the center, which is to replace light fixtures that are operated by the switch on the old fixture, as opposed to ceiling mounted fixtures that are run by a wall switch.

Looks like a factory installed part:

SHOW ME SOME LIGHT!!

Thanks!!

This finally ends my quest to convert the interior lighting to LEDs, while doing it with a "warm white" LED.

I've read a lot of threads over in the truck camper forum, and there are some really neat ideas there too.

I have 1141 and 1156 throughout my cyclone. Started to look at replacements but when I added it all up it seemed crazy to convert. Anyone have a cost effective replacement for these?

Nice. thank you for the post.

Anybody know if there is yet a solution for the 16inch fluorescent garage-type lights? Sure would like to change em out.

DITTO.

I tried some 1156 White LEDs, and I hated the blue tinted light they gave off. They were only about 1/2 as bright too... barely enough light to be usable. They are nice for the porch light though.

Was thinking about changing the 1156's to LED's but decided not to after getting prices and realizing they put off less light than the stock lamps.
