I have an 08 Mandalay 40' The ride height seem low in the rear to me the rock guard is only 1 inch off the ground and the tail pipe drags.I have looked in the Freightliner manual and all it tells you is measure from bottom of frame to the shock bolt it does not say anything about what it should be.It says if ride height is incorrect adjust air suspension, it does not tell you HOW?? I know I can go to Freightliner and find out but that would be to easy.

Nitrofish, if your coach is that low when the engine is running and the air suspension has been allowed to "pump up" and stabilize, you have a serious problem. I wouldn't want to drive it that low.

Not Clear: The tail pipe drags through driveways and things not all the time so I don't think its not anything broken. It just looks low in the back to me. It's a new coach so it might just adjustment.

I think if you search the Custom Chassis web site you might find what they call a Tec-Knowledge bulletin. It says that the measurement from the bottom of the frame flange to the center of the bottom shock bolt should be 9-3/4 inches plus or minus 1/8 of an inch. If it is very far off this, I would have FL adjust.Good luck.

You adjust the ride height with the ride height control valves and if you don't know where or what these are you should take is somewhere to have it done.

nitrofish.....The measurement can be different from coach to coach, so you need to find the specs for your year and model. I don't recall if Madalay is still in business, but they would have the spec. The next place to check would be Freightliner. Personally, I think everyone should have the ride height specs written down somewhere so you can check the measurement yearly.

The adjustment is usually done by shortening or lowering a rod on the control valves. I've never adjusted a Freightliner valve, but I did adjust my Monaco ride height. Mine was an inch low in the front and one inch high in the rear. After adjustment I noticed a substantial improvement in the ride. The geometry/balance can be thrown off with improper adjustment and change the handling characteristics.

Adjusting them is very easy, but you need to feel comfortable with doing it. Most people don't get involved in the adjustment because it requires crawling under the coach and raising/lowering it while under there. I was a little nervous the first time because people told horror stories of the coach falling. I found the movement of the coach was very predictable, slow and easy to control.

Just take the MH to a freightliner shop....they will check it in 10 minutes and adjust as needed..acccording to your unit.

They did mine when I had a oil change.,,,it was perfect.

If you don't know what you are doing then you are going to seriously hurt yourself. Do yourself a favor and take your coach to the Colton Truck Terminal and Garage in Colton CA which is east of LA. I had my Freightline done there and it cost me $100. They are also a good place for service. Good people.

I have no issue agreeing with telling you to take your coach to a shop for adjustment, but one of the issues I face and many do in the Los Angeles area is locating a good repair shop for RV's. Colton is a great place, but is over 100 miles from my home with no other competent shops that are closer. Sometimes it hard to just go here or there to get something done when you're still working and can't just drive a 100 miles for service.

Sooooo....some of us learn how to do the repair or at least take a shot at it.
