Thought I got a well bred Labrador retriever, but Willow has turned out to be a turtle retriever. This morning was the 5th turtle she has brought into the house. This is not to mention the many she has found on walks!! Oh well, I will just have to keep her anyway.

I think the same turtle keeps going back into the backyard behind the fence.

I hope she never finds a big snapper like one of our boxers did. He had a scar on his mug forever after that.

There are far worse things she could be bringing inside.
Nothing like shuffling through the house on the way to morning coffee and finding a 6-pack of dead mice on the living room rug! Both Zack and Beth, both at the bridge now, liked to go out the dog door, out to the back part of our property, snag field mice, and bring them inside to "play with".

Every other dog I've had has worked out well with a dog door from puppy hood. Alas, those two, were almost 5 before they were mature enough to handle the "freedom and responsibility" of the dog door!

Nope, no turtles or toads, so far, but our well-bred black Lab stuck his head underwater in the Gulf of Mexico one day and came up with a very live, very large and very displeased -- horseshoe crab.
Cheers,

Sunshine liked to bring in Ground hogs which we name "Ground Dogs". He is with Zack and Beth at the bridge.

Our Golden loves to stick her head under water and find rocks. We can throw the rock in shallow water and she will hunt until she finds the same rock. Sometimes up to 10 seconds. It is funny to watch.

Our late black lab liked to fish. We had a weekend home on the lake and if ANYONE within site was fishing, she had to go help. She would sit and watch the line (my DH would sleep) and she would alert when something "hit" the line. When you got the fish about 20 ft from the boat or shoreline, she would jump in the water and bring it back to you. She did retrieve!!, but you had to get it first.

Do you think the turtle has found a new play mate in Willow? He (the turtle) probably likes the ride into the house...LOL

Maybe you could buy some turtle food so he'll be at home till you find him to take him back outside.

Now. that would make for one funny story!
