This could be long and confusing.

Based on Remco's recommendation I installed their Lube Pump on my Lexus RX350 and towed 4 down. Well after about 8K miless or so I got a VSC/Check enginge light which required a transmission replacement. Needless to say Lexus wouldn't honor the warranty due to the Remco Lube Pump and towing 4 down and Remco says no way.

Bottom line I am out about 2K for the pump and installation and 6.6K for the Transmission.

Anyone out there eperience anything similar??

Thanks,

Terry Bradley

The bottom line is you got a ruined transmission by adding an aftermarket device not approved by the manufacturer and subjecting the automobile to towing not authorized by the manufacturer. Of course Lexus will not cover it under warranty.

Should REMCO offer you a refund of the pump purchase price or the cost of transmission replacement? Many will say yes, and if I were you, I would pressure them to do so. However, the warranty on the pump probably contains a clause that protects them in in incident like this.

The only way to protect yourself from a future transmission failure is to only tow a vehicle authorized for the towoin you do.

Our Lexus is AWD. REMCO said it too could be towed with one of their systems. I called Lexus. They were very nice about it, but, they said, "Absolutely not." We believed LEXUS (the manufacturer) and bought a Saturn. I really feel REMCO should foot the bill for this "damage." What are they saying? Your transmission just went out on it's own? Why would they refuse to cover this? This is their world and they also certify the solution for this specific application. I danged sure won't trust them after "hearing" your story. Unless you're leaving something out, this is awful customer service. Did a "certified" REMCO dealer install the pump system?

Something is a-miss. I know a guy who's Acura MDX trany went out and Remco put in a new one for them without question. Keep trying, there must be more to the story.

Yep, three friends, one with a lube pump and two with the disconnects. All three had to have their transmissions replaced. Remco said "tough luck", wouldn't even replace the failed pump on the one.
Just another reason I don't trust or recommend Remco products!
They told me our '05 Ody was towable four down, I asked them why they said so, got the answer that "they just knew it". When I pressed for details they hung up. Honda says they tested them and "found something they didn't like". Since Remco wouldn't pay for a transmission rebuild if I followed their idea, I went with Honda's recommendation which is NO to towing four down.
