I am thinking about going to look at a 2001 Ford Majestic 28 R. My question is about the mileage. It has approx 100K miles on it. In comparison to the others I have looked at that seems high. Since its a repo, I really doubt there are any sort of maintenance records. Can I tell everything I need to just by taking it for a drive? Would you all have it inspected before considering it? It is almost 5 hrs from me so I want to have a plan before I go. Thanks for your time.
(sorry .. forgot to mention its the 6.8 V10 Triton)

I see that it is a Cruise America former rental? No? I bought my 2004 28R with 60,000 miles and it has been absolutely trouble-free. What is the asking price? Cruise America Phoenix has some great deals now and I can put you in touch with a salesman there that will treat you right.
PM if you have specific questions about the unit.

X-rental unit

If the price is right and well maintained..............

I would pay to have it inspected if your mechanical(engine) or structural (house) and appliance knowledge/ skills are lacking. The cost of inspection needs to be considered in the offer/purchase price.

100,000 highway miles on at engine that should have been well serviced should in itself NOT be a thing of concern. In fact it could have had brake jobs, etc done alone the way and be in good shape but a good check up will answer that. I do not think they permit towing but not sure about that.

I'd have it checked out, but high mileage if it was maintained isn't that big a deal anymore. It's actually better to use a vehicle than to let it sit unused.

At 100K miles, at this point it's not the miles, it's what are they asking for the MH.

In today's market I have never seen cheaper MH's from new to low miles used. So at 100K it better be real low to make me interested.

Seeing that it's a repossessed unit, I would be very cautious. People that lose their vehicles, as a general rule, don't take very good care of things.

I think that you would be starting off in the worst circumstances possible in the RV world.

A Majestic is a formal rental unit.

You would be starting off with a formal rental unit, and then on top of that the previous owners could not come up with the money to make payments. Do you think the previous owner changed the oil or had other repair work done to the unit if he could not come up with the payment money?

On top of that, it has 100,000 miles on the motor and transmission.

I would not give more than $5000 for that myself.
