After a few months searching I've found a deal I am happy with. Used 1 tons are harder to find than I thought. I now have a new 2008 Dodge 3500 dually,auto,6.7 diesel with a 4.10 rear end. Little over 30% off sticker. Laramie package, enough bells and whistles to make my wife very happy. Replaced 2500 duramax that I thought was okay but weight police set me straight so I want to thank them. Hope the term doesn't offend anyone. Now I'll feel safe towing 13000 dry weight 5'er.

Sounds like you stole my truck! Is it white by any chance??

Now, first thing you do is unplug the EGR valve. This will gain you about 2MPG right out of the box. Get the 500 miles on it and have fun pulling. You will also now need the special brackets to install the hitch.

Thanks for answers. The truck is not white, its red but they call it inferno red chystal pearl. It's the mega cab model. I'm going to have an rv shop install the hitch. Not familar with egr valve, I'll look into it. Thanks again.

Its a tow monster that you just picked up. The exhust brake is amazing when towing on mountain roads. You will need either a manual slide hitch or and auto.

The EGR valve thing is just one of many modifications that some owner's do with varying results. None of those owners will be with you if you need warranty work from Dodge. Just FYI.

Just passed my 36k miles and I am now out of warranty. What is the EGR valve and where can I find it? What other side effects might this have?

In California we start to get our Diesels checked for smog I believe it's 2010, so if we do a delete we will have to get it all put back on every year, too much work for me I'll leave it as is.
