The kids are now 2 and 4 and the wife and I have finally come to the realization that if we are to continue our family camping tradition, it is going to have to come with a change into a bigger RV. We still love our Lance pickup camper but we are packed to the seams and we are just plain out of room.
We are looking at several new 5th wheels including a Keystone Cougar bunk model, a Keystone Challenger bunk model and one that we really like is a Sundance by Heartland RV. I had never even heard of these until recently but am really impressed so far with construction quality and attention to detail.
We are looking at 2 models, both with rear bunks/loft options. Anyone else out there have a Heartland Sundance and if so, what has your opinion been after owning and using it for a while?

We looked very closely at Sundance but the floor plans didn't meet our needs. I really liked them. I would not have hesitated to buy one if I could have found one that met our needs. I preferred it over Cougar.

Sundance is not owned by a giant, impersonal mega corporation that churns out RV's like the Keebler Elves stamp out cookies! They are a privately owned company, that build a good quality RV. And I'm a Jayco fan! So you can't go wrong with the Sundance, quite impressive on their standard equipment list.
Here is an interesting pamphlet made for the Sundance salesmen.
Scroll down to the blue button "Construction Booklet"!

Elkhunter. I can not speak of the sundance, but heartland as a whole has been fantastic. if you have not already check out the Heartland Owners Forum.. It has a lot of great info and many great people to give advise about the sundances.

Well, we went back to the dealer with the Keystone Challenger and also the Heartland Sundance. Both units are brand new but they are 2008 models which is fine by me. However, after really just sitting in them and taking a lot more detailed look, the Challenger is literally falling apart. Molding is coming off everywhere, screws are pulling out, etc. while the Sundance is still solid as a rock. Our choice is made and at this point it comes down to the finicky financing companies. Keeping our fingers crossed!

We had a 32RK Challenger and now have a 3300SK Sundance. Like some have said Heartland makes nice rigs for the money.

We just got back camping with some friends who just bought a Sundance and I have to say for the money I don't think there's a better mid level 5r out there. We just bought a Jayco which I'm impressed with but if I had the need for a bigger 5r and the tow vehicle to match, I would have gone with the Sundance.

Good to hear, like I said, I was impressed as my original choice was a Wildcat 30LOFT. Our local dealer is NOT willing to deal on the Wildcat and I refuse to pay $10,000 more for it than what I could get it for if I was willing to drive to RV Wholesalers and buy it there. The local dealer for the Heartland Sundance is apparently going out of business and has a smoking deal on the Sundance models they have still in stock so.....any ideas for online financing? Our credit is average and clean but not high enough for what the local banks want in order to deal with us. Anyone used any online sources that came through for them?

Not to mention the obvious, but have you checked out local credit unions. They most often have the best rates. If the local dealer is going out of business make sure you can get the Heartland serviced on warranty issues. How far will you have to drive if you do have problems?

If your dealer goes out of business you can contact Heartland directly and they will usually authorise one of your local dealers to do any warranty work. Just remember to get pre-authorization for all your warranty work.
Good luck and enjoy your Sundance
