I just put new tires on my Ford 06, 350 SWD PSD and find that it handles differently than the original tires. It wants to wander a little left and right and more pronounced when towing our TT. Is this normal for new tires and do they wear in after a few hundred miles? These are top of the line tires.....My truck has 27,000 miles, old tires showed even wear front and rear....

I'd start by checking the tire pressure as too much air in new tires will make it wander. Assuming 3400lb 265's and looking at your rig I'd say 50-55 psi is enough.

Thanks for the reply... I have 80# in rear and 70# in the front. I'll try less air and see if that helps.

What brand of tire? What tread pattern are they?? Aggressive tread patters or tires with large tread blocks will squirm around on the road a lot. Also many tires even though they have the same load rating can have soft sidewalls. If you got some with soft sidewalls you are in for miserable handling for the life of the tires.

These tires are Michelin LT 275/65 R18 LTX A/T2 10 ply. These are not off-road tires. It has deep tread but not aggressive patterns such as off road. I just keep hoping they will wear in as time goes by.I have about a Thousand miles on them now......

You are right. They do not appear to have that aggressive of a tread pattern. All I can say is take em back to the dealer and make him straighten it out. I have only had one set of tires that did not work on a vehicle. Exchanged them for a different brand. Problem solved!

If you do a search, you'll find that people (including myself) have posted that new tires can feel pretty squirrelly until they break in. Mine were bad for the first couple hundred miles. Lowering the air pressure helped a bit, but make sure you're not dropping below the recommended pressure for whatever weight you're carrying. Do what you're comfortable with.

After putting 1300 miles and reducing the front tire pressure to 60lbs my Michelin LT 275/65 R18 LTX A/T2 10 ply are much better now. Hopefully it will also tow better.........

I recently replaced my tires with the Michelin LTX A/T2's also and have been very happy with them. I did not notice the same issues you did, but as others have pointed out, new tires can take a bit of breaking-in to get them where they need to be.
