DW and I just started cooking with a dutch oven this year. I never really knew how easy it would be. We've done pizza, stew, breads, etc..... It's great and you are gong to love it.

Just be sure to have a heavy set of leather gloves or proper handles so you can move the thing.

Hi , you will be glad that you are trying to cook in a DO. I have been cooking all kinds of stuff and went out and bought a second DO for cooking desserts. One for the meal and one for dessert afterwards. When dinner is done I put on dessert and just add a few more coal. a Suggestion ,go to Google , type in Dutch OVEN Rececipes and to to Byrons site . by far the best recipies.... you will enjoy them and his site is filled with lots of info

One of our favorites is No Peek Chicken. We substitute minute rice, though. 1st time we made it, the rice was just a little crunchy. When this is about 1/2 way done, we start peach cobbler in our smaller dutch oven.

Our Dutch Oven is the highlight of our camping trips. It is tons of fun -- even if we goof up (we are still learning)... it is entertainment, followed by Good Eats!

Have fun!

Hit a welding store for some really good gloves. I can move the DO, stir the coals with a finger and put the DO back. Even scoop up some coals for the top.

Awesome, have a great time with your Dutch oven. You've got to watch out, they have a tendency to multiply. At least that's what my wife thinks.

Beware, cooking in a DO can become addictive!
